Alongside the metallic ores and minerals, The Forge also has a variety of glittering gemstones to find within the depths of its caves and mineshafts. But unlike real life, and most other videogames, the rarest and most valuable of these real gemstones is the sparkling red Ruby.
Usually, it’s diamonds which are treated as the rarest and most expensive, but your chances of landing a Ruby in The Forge are more than twice as unlikely. What’s more, they’re required for early-to-mid-game quests from Captain Rowan and Sensei Moro. However, they actually appear as a quest requirement before you’ve likely acquired the mining strength to actually acquire them.
Here’s how and where to find a Ruby in The Forge, as well as the best places to look for them!
The Forge Ruby location
Rubies in The Forge can only be mined from Basalt Veins inside the Ruined Cave of the Forgotten Kingdom.
The key stats of Ruby are as follows:
- Rarity: Epic
- Base Mining Chance: 1/487
- Forging Multiplier: 2.95x
- Sale Price: 44.25$
Basalt Veins can only be broken with a base mining strength of 78, which requires at least the Mythril Pickaxe.
While you can technically find Basalt Veins throughout the Ruined Cave, they’re a rare and unpredictable spawn. The best place to find them is the entrance of the Volcanic Depths, which is a sub-area of the Ruined Cave which you find by taking the right-hand fork at the main entrance, then turning right until you reach the Miner who sells the Magma Pickaxe.
At the entrance to the Volcanic Depths there are two guaranteed, fast-regenerating spawns of Basalt Veins. This makes it an extremely popular spot to mine, but if you can get a good uninterrupted session, then you can get some Rubies really quickly.
It’s best to mine this spot from the top, because otherwise the powerful elite enemies that lurk in the Depths can lock onto you and cause problems.
If this spot is busy, you can also find Basalt Veins throughout the Volcanic Depths, but because there are so many enemies they can be tricky to mine efficiently. Either way, once you’ve actually dug into a few Basalt Veins, you should be able to find some Rubies quickly!
