Where to get Luminum for the Lighthouse in Prospecting

Liminum is not just a rare and valuable gemstone in Prospecting, but also the key to unlocking a massive portion of the map. However, it can be very difficult to dredge up without the right tools, the right location and a lot of luck.

As you investigate getting to Caldera Island, the Magma Furnace and Infernal Heart, the boatkeeper at Fortune River tells you that the lighthouse which guides the way is out of order. After offering to help the lighthouse keeper fix the lighthouse, they tell you that the only missing ingredient is Luminum, the power source which gives the lighthouse its glow.

So you can bring the lighthouse back into commission, here’s what you need to know about Luminum so you can track some down for yourself. Alternatively, if you’re after multiple materials, take a look at our full list of Prospecting Collection locations.

Where to find Luminum for the Lighthouse in Prospecting

Luminum is a Legendary rarity material available to find in the following places:

  • Sunset Beach
  • Crystal Cavern River
  • Azuralite Oasis

Since you can access the Lighthouse quest basically from the start of your adventure in Prospecting, you might not even know where all of these places are.

Sunset Beach is the sandy location at the foot of the lighthouse, while the Crystal Caverns are next to Rubble Creek and require you to be at least level 15 to enter. Azurallite Oasis is the sub-area at the back of the Crystal Caverns which requires a digging toughness of 5 to excavate.

Because it’s a Legendary, you will definitely need to boost your Luck modifier to give yourself a decent chance of pulling some Luminum. This can be with one of the best Pans in Prospecting, but even that probably won’t be enough. Your best bet is to visit either the Shard Merchant for a Luck Totem, or the alchemist for a luck potion.

With a Luck Totem placed, I had the best results trying to find Luminum in the first section of the Crystal Caves: the Crystal Cavern River. This was because of the conveniently placed merchant for dumping full inventories and, while I didn’t end up needing more than one Totem, the Crystal Cavern River is a higher-traffic area for higher level players, meaning you’re more likely to be able to benefit from someone else’s Luck Totem while you pan there.

If you only have a shovel good enough for the 3 toughness Sunset Beach, it’s very possible to find Luminum there, but you will have to get very lucky indeed, or spend your own Shards on Luck Totems.
