Wizard of Legend 2 – Tips for Basic Arcana

Basic Arcana Overview

By Kiziоn.

I’ll be ranking these in two different manners, fun factor and how strong they are.

Earth Knuckles: 5/10 Fun Factor and 5/10 Strength

  • It’s most likely due to SFX’s not being 100% perfect atm but they feel a lot weaker than they are and aren’t the most enjoyable to use, i feel like it lacks a 3rd final hit in the combo and ofc not being “hold down to attack” makes it a bit weird to use.

Fireball: 8/10 Fun Factor and 3/10 Strength

  • Feels like one of the weaker basic arcana as it feel a little slow on the attack rate and lacks range, damage per hit seems fine (7, 7, and 14) and final AoE also seems decently sized, pretty fun to use despite being somewhat underpowered.

Flaming Strike: 7/10 Fun Factor and 9/10 Strength

  • So far seems like the second strongest basic arcana doing pretty at zoning with good damage, breaks the armor (If you play with fortified enemies) of most enemies in one combo while also keeping melee enemies far enough from you (unless you play with relentless foes).

Frost Blade: 8/10 Fun Factor and 9/10 Strength

  • Feels like the strongest basic atm having good hit rate and damage being a little bit faster but having a weaker final hit compared to flaming strike, does better at bosses but has slightly worse room clear.

Lightning Spinner: 10/10 Fun Factor and 8/10 Strength

  • By far the most fun basic arcana (until they fix/improve bending torrent) it’s both strong and fun while being the second weaker of the 5 close range arcana, feels a little clunky to use due to not being click and hold and being the faster of the 4 makes it quite good at stance breaking bosses despite doing less overall damage.

Aeromancer’s Grasp: 3/10 Fun Factor and 2/10 Strength

  • Despite the low ranking it’s very fun to use but all of it is dragged down because it simply takes too long to do too little damage while not staggering enemies and shoving you in the face of melee enemies.

Perforating Jet: 6/10 Fun Factor and 2/10 Strength

  • It borders the niche of ranged and melee arcana but isn’t good at either, feels like this needs to be changed to work better at one of the two instead of trying to do both, projectiles aren’t fast enough to utilize it’s range effectively while also not having enough range to justify trying to make use of it, that paired with it’s very low damage per cast and no enemy push back makes this to me the worst basic arcana.

Bolt Rail: 6/10 Fun Factor and 4/10 Strength

  • Fun to use, fairly simple, but not that great does too little damage for how long of a cast it has.

Stone Shot 8/10 Fun Factor and 5/10 Strength

  • Id repeat much of what i said about fireball here outside of the cast speed being nice this time around, I feel like the bigger crime is how these 2 arcana are basically identical in functionality.

Bending Torrent

  • I’ll be talking out of my a** here because this is just me assuming that it will be drastically improved in the future so ill give it no ranking but simply state things i dislike about it: It hitting walls feels unjustified, the fact that it stops you on cast and how you have to recast it every half a second makes playing with it not that enjoyable and a bit confusing i feel like this arcana should be turned into a click and hold attack that follows your cursor and allows you to cast other arcana while attacking, or move with a speed reduction, it feels clunky and overly annoying to make work within corridors and the fact that it auto target breakable map objects is also annoying.
