Sumo Digital has announced that it is going to sunset Stampede: Racing Royale this summer. It’s a 60-player free-to-play racing royale game that entered early access in 2023.
“Due to a variety of unexpected events, live support for our free-to-play kart racing game on Steam and Xbox will cease later this year,” the studio said in a statement. “Server availability and wider support for the game will end in approximately three months’ time; an exact end date will be confirmed in due course.”
Players will still have access to all of the game’s features including live-service and rotational events until the servers close.
The remaining content for the game will be rolled out in the Season 1 update within the next few days. It’ll include four new race circuits: Twin Thruway, Neon Circuit, Wentworth Park, and Stratos Raceway. There will also be eight new karts for players to take onto the track, such as the Sabre Slipstream and the Scrapyard Screamer.
Xbox players can now earn Achievements by playing the game and earn an exclusive headgear cosmetic by unlocking all of them. The PC version will see improved performance visuals, especially on Steam Deck.
Stampede: Racing Royale isn’t the only live-service game meeting its end soon. Earlier this week, developer Mountaintop Studios announced that the free-to-play shooter game Spectre Divide will shut down within the next 30 days. It was just released back in September.
