On the trail of the notorious member of the Shinbakufu known as the Naginata in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, after the duel on Seta Bridge, you’re given the task of finding the fleeing patriarch of the Koga clan, Shotei.
Given the size of the open world in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and how easy it is to automatically fast travel away from the intended area, here’s how to track down Shotei and offer the help he needs.

You know that Shotei fled east from the Bridge, is likely in The Shimmering Fields in Omi, and left on foot.
Resist the urge to fast travel to a nearby viewpoint or Kakurega, but instead follow the road east from the bridge. On your left, you’ll find a peasant lamenting the demise of his best radishes. Speak to him and he’ll tell you an old bald man ran past him and knocked over his cart. A vital clue.
Continue following the road and you’ll overhear some more villagers saying they saw some light coming from the old Koga buildings in the mountains – but that they’ve long been abandoned. Another nudge in the right direction.
Keep going yet further and you’ll spot some children playing as shinobi from Koga, hinting that their training base must be nearby.
Run towards the tori gate in front of you, then up the mountain path until you reach your destination.
If you’re lost, you find Shotei in the large house in the middle of the village of Koga, shown on the map above.
Here, inside the large central house, just down from the viewpoint, you find Shotei – and he’s been at the sake.
Repel his would-be assassins, then ask him again for help against the Shinbafuku. After a dressing down, he tells you about his daughter, Katsuhime, who scouted the castle you’re aiming to infiltrate.
Go to Mount Hiei to the northwest and Enryakuji Temple is in the bottom left of the area towards Kyoto.
When you arrive you find fresh horror and hostile shinobi looking to take you down. Make your way up to the top of the hill where the tallest pagoda lies, then defeat the aggressive warriors you find there with the help of Katsuhime’s teppo.
She agrees to think on your request and your quest changes to meet back up with Shotei at a tower overlooking Sakamoto.
The lookout is found to the west of the city, on the edge of the farmland outside the city gates.
