Atomfall Mother Jago quest guide
Atomfall has you meet all kinds of wacky, lovely, and sometimes hostile characters, though some of them are much more prominent than others throughout your exploration of post-apocalyptic northern England. Mother Jago is one of these characters; a mysterious, maternal figure and herbalist who has some sort of connection to the Druids.
It’s likely you’ll first hear of Mother Jago from Wyndham’s baker, Iris, who mentions that the character has crafted a potion that can keep infections – like the ones that various plants and Feral enemies are afflicted with – at bay. If Mother Jago and her story interest you, here’s exactly our Mother Jago quest guide for Atomfall.
Atomfall Mother Jago quest guide
To kick off (and complete) Mother Jago’s quest in Atomfall, you’re going to ultimately need the Medical Keycard. This allows us to access the Medical Tunnels, where a key item for Mother Jago’s quest is found. You can retrieve the Medical Keycard whenever you want, and I personally recommend grabbing it sooner rather than later, so you don’t need to go off track mid-quest.
That said, you do need to have restored power to Data Store Delta in the Interchange to access this Keycard, and make sure you’re geared up before going here. To help with finding the Keycard, here’s our guide on where to find the Medical Keycard.
With that bit of light housekeeping out of the way, let’s get started. Mother Jago is first found beside The Old Mine in the north of Casterfell Woods, where she is tending to her garden. One of the first leads on her location that you can find is from Iris the baker in Wyndham Village.
Chat with her, and she’ll eventually task you with going to the Druid’s Castle Ruins to retrieve the Strange Tonic Recipe and her book on herbalism. Retrieving her book is an optional objective, but considering it is found in the same room as the Strange Tonic Recipe – which we will need – you might as well grab and return it to her. She gives you three Training Stimulants as a reward, which is decent!
Upon arriving at the Druid’s Camp, you have two ways of entering the Castle Ruins: the front door and a side entrance to the south. I recommend taking the side entrance – a white door illuminated with blue torches – as this will lead to plenty of loot.

Just inside, you can take down the High Priestess and retrieve an Atomic Battery from beside her body. If you then make your way to the very end of the cave network, you should find a small library. The Strange Tonic Recipe is on the table here beside some spores, and Mother Jago’s Book is found on an adjacent table surrounded by some candles.

It’s also worth noting – while you’re here – that you can open a shortcut to the front entrance of the castle from here by going up the stairs near the library. On top of that, in the front portion of the castle, you can grab the Castle Key from one of the side room’s kitchen counters. This Key can be used on the keyhole beside the fireplace (also in the front portion of the castle), unlocking yet another shortcut to the cave network that the castle is connected to.
With that out of the way, return Mother Jago’s Book to her in the north of Casterfell Woods. She’ll give you your reward, and then task you with presenting an Effigy to the altar of the Speaking Cave, which she then marks on your map. She will also provide you with a pass that prevents the Druids inside of the Speaking Cave from becoming hostile towards you while you do this.

Make your way to the Speaking Cave and advance to the altar inside, where you can present the Effigy that Mother Jago gave you. Some dead people – or soil people, I’m not sure – will begin talking to you now. Be agreeable, rather than shocked and disgusted, and head outside once you’re done speaking to them.
A small side note: the Protocol Radio Part needed for Captain Sims’ quest can be found behind the altar in the Speaking Cave.
Mother Jago will have relocated to just outside of the Speaking Cave now, where you can talk to her about your experience. I, again, was agreeable here, as I didn’t want to run the risk of Mother Jago turning against me. I am yet to confirm if this is actually the case, but sound enthusiastic when choosing your dialogue choices about the voices in the soil to be on the safe side.
After this, Mother Jago will then task you with retrieving the Growth Stimulant from the Medical Tunnels for her. If you already have the item and gave it to her earlier, however, she will now put it back in your inventory. Ultimately, this item needs to be used on Oberon at the very end of the game.
If you’re yet to grab the Growth Stimulant, make sure you have the Medical Keycard mentioned at the beginning of this guide if you haven’t already. With the Keycard in your possession, go and use it on the broken elevator on the first floor of the Medical wing in the Interchange. Bring along a bottle of Strange Tonic or two as well!

You now want to advance through the following area until you reach the Medical Tunnels, being cautious of the Thrall enemies here. You will also likely find the Sample One item in the Auditorium along the way, which is necessary for completing Dr Holder’s quest.
Keep advancing ahead, and when you’re inside the Medical Tunnels, take caution of the plant-like enemies. At the very end of the tunnels, you will find the corpse of Dr Langley holding the Growth Stimulant, which takes on a very similar appearance to an Atomic Battery.

Now, all that’s left to do is advance to the Oberon Dig Site at the very end of the game, which is accessible after restoring power to the Interchange and opening all Interchange doors.
Once inside the Oberon Dig Site, you’ll need to activate two Fire Safety valves on either side of the area by twisting them.

Then, if you go up the stairs from the bridge in the left of the area, you should find an orange Fire Safety Fluid Intake terminal. Place the Growth Stimulant inside here, and go to the Control Room.

In the Control Room, pull the Fire Safety lever to unleash the Growth Stimulant on Oberon. Oberon will, unsurprisingly, begin growing now. Head back outside into Windscale Plant, where the voices in the soil will tell you to return to the Castle Ruins in Casterfell Woods. More specifically, you want to go to the cave network where the High Priestess and Atomic Battery were prior.
Here, you can speak to Mother Jago briefly, but to reach your ending and complete the quest, you must jump into the illuminated blue pit here. Good luck!
