Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Amazon-Exclusive Steelbook Edition Is Back In Stock
Amazon has restocked its exclusive collectible edition of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Released earlier this month, the Mirror Edition includes a physical copy of the recently crowned GOTY at The Game Awards as well as a new steelbook case, three collectible art cards, and an oversized display box with new artwork.
PlayStation 5 physical editions of Clair Obscur have been more challenging to find than the Xbox version. Amazon’s new $60 Mirror Edition is actually the only PlayStation 5 physical edition in stock as of December 22. The PS5 standard edition is “temporarily out of stock” at Amazon, though you can still place an order. That said, Amazon is charging $60 for the standard edition–$10 higher than the original $50 MSRP–and the same price as the Mirror Edition. Every other major retailer is sold out of the standard edition for PS5, and GameStop’s reprint of its exclusive $70 Lumiere Edition is out of stock, too. The standard edition for Xbox is $50 and in stock at multiple major retailers, and Steam keys are discounted to only $36 at GameSpot sister site Fanatical.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Editions
Sandfall Interactive’s debut game turned out to be a much bigger hit than anyone could have expected. In fact, it currently holds a 92 on Metacritic from reviewers–including a 9/10 from GameSpot–and a 9.6/10 user score. Along with winning Game of the Year at this year’s Game Awards, Clair Obscur won GameSpot’s GOTY award.
In the wake of Clair Obscur’s award wins this month, it became known that Sandfall Interactive used Generative AI while developing the turn-based RPG. AI artwork isn’t in the current version of the game, but “temporary placeholder textures” were unintentionally included in the April launch build, according to Sandfall. In response to this discovery, The Indie Game Awards has retroactively disqualified Clair Obscur for violating the organization’s rules prohibiting the use of Generative AI. As a result, Clair Obscur lost two awards: Best Debut Indie Game and Game of the Year.
$60 | Amazon Exclusive
Here’s what you’ll find inside the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Mirror Edition box shown above:
- Physical copy of base game
- Exclusive steelbook case featuring Verso and Alicia
- Mirror Edition tuck box
- 3 collectible art cards
There are 10 art cards in all, so you’d need to buy at least four Mirror Editions–and likely more–to get all of the cards. You could buy the Mirror Edition for multiple friends and remove the cards from the box before giving them the game.
Side note: We feel it’s obligatory to mention Little Nightmares 3 also has an Amazon-exclusive Mirror Edition that’s in stock for Nintendo Switch and PS5 for $95 (was $110).
$50
As mentioned, the standard edition for PS5 is actually more difficult to find in stock at the moment than the Mirror Edition. The only retailer accepting orders on the physical edition is Amazon, and oddly it’s priced at $60. The Xbox physical edition is in stock at multiple major retailers for $50.
$70 | Sold out
The GameStop-exclusive Lumiere Edition is only available for PS5 in the US. Unfortunately, as of December 22, the reprint is sold out. Like Amazon’s edition, this comes with an exclusive steelbook case, a mini art book, and various in-game DLC.
Here’s a look at everything included in the Lumiere Edition:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 physical edition
- Collectible Steelbook Case featuring Maelle, Gustave, and the Paintress
- The Expeditioner’s Journal – 48-page hardcover art book
- Digital Deluxe Upgrade Pack (in-game DLC)
- The Flowers Collection – Six Flowers of Lumiere outfits and hairstyles / Six Gommage outfit variations
- Custom “Clair” outfit for Maelle
- Custom “Obscur” outfit for Gustave
$150 | Sold out
The Collector’s Edition was also exclusive to PS5 and only at GameStop–but it has been sold out since Expedition 33’s original April launch. Along with all of the bonus DLC from the Lumiere and Digital Deluxe Editions, here’s what was included in the box:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 base game
- An 8-inch hand-painted Monolith music box
- A collectible Steelbook case featuring unique cover art
- The Expeditioner’s Journal 48-page hardcover artbook
- The “Flowers” Collection DLC with unique cosmetic items
- A “Clair” custom outfit for Maelle
- An “Obscur” custom outfit for Gustave
