Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025 Guide: New Weapon, Armor, Exotics
Destiny 2’s annual Guardian Games event has returned once again for 2025, coinciding with the launch of Heresy Act 2. It brings with it some incredibly significant changes to the event’s format. While the basic idea of the event remains intact. Each Guardian class competes for points and the class with the most points gets a dedicated statue in the Tower area for the next year–the biggest change is the addition of a brand new mode to play. Here’s what’s new and what players can earn along the way, including the new weapon, various Exotics you can earn, new armor ornaments, a boss-rush mode called Rushdown, and much more.
How to earn medallions in Guardian Games 2025
Much like previous years in Guardian Games, the event starts by speaking to Eva Levante in the Tower hub and getting the Contender Card to earn medallions. After completing the short initial quest from Eva called “Best In Class,” players will need to wear a unique Guardian Games class item on their character to earn medallions for the event completing quests and bounties from Eva Levante, challenges from the Contender Card, doing Crucible matches, or completing runs of Rushdown while wearing a Guardian Games class item.
The Contender Card contains additional challenges divided up into three tiers of difficulty from Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Diamond medallions are, as you’d expect, the most valuable of the bunch, so much so that you’ll be limited to earning only two per week of the event.
Rushdown Mode
New to Guardian Games is the Rushdown mode, a special PvE gauntlet challenge where players will face powerful enemies from previous moments in Destiny 2’s past. Bosses from Destiny 2’s campaigns, seasonal story content, and Exotic missions will all be included in the rotation of enemies to be fought.
As players take down bosses, the difficulty will gradually increase with damage taken going up and other effects. The entire run is on a time limit with five bosses per run to take down. As players defeat bosses, time will be added back to the timer until either it runs out or the fifth boss is downed.
Completing at least three bosses in a run of Rushdown is guaranteed to drop a weapon from the loot pool. A full loot table breakdown will be coming once we know more about the event.
Guardian Games 2025 rewards
Skimmer
Players that missed out on the special Hoverboard skin, the Allstar Vector Skimmer, will be quite pleased to know that it’s back for Guardian Games 2025. There are limited opportunities to earn a skimmer–a snowboard-style replacement for your sparrow that allows you to grind through the air–so you should be sure to take advantage of this chance. During Guardian Games, you’ll have access to one, but in order to keep it after the event ends, you’ll need to complete a quest called Drop In.
New trace rifle and returning weapons

The newest piece of loot this year is an Arc trace rifle called Keraunios. There are many excellent choices on the Episode Heresy artifact that will further enhance this weapon’s power, so make sure to grab it from Rushdown, bounty completions, or doing some Crucible matches.
Returning weapons also include the Taraxippos scout rifle, The Title submachine gun, and the Hullabaloo heavy grenade launcher. Any of these weapons will drop alongside the new trace rifle as typical loot.
Guardian Games armor ornaments

All of the previous armor sets will be available from the Eververse shop for Silver or Bright Dust, but there is also a new set of armor for each class for this year. Continuing the Olympian theme, these new sets are adorned with tons of gold accents and Roman styled adornments. Both the new and returning armor are armor ornaments, allowing you to apply their look to non-Exotic armor pieces.
