On the Laboratory platform between Sunstone Island and Rosilit Bay, you find the mad scientist Dr Crookspine working away on his latest invention. Dr Crookspine is a brilliant inventor, capable of designing useful items that entirely change the way you play Fisch, but before he can do that he needs the right materials.
Once you’ve found everything the good Dr needs, he can craft the Glimmersuit Boots which give your character a huge boost to movement speed on land. This is incredibly useful for scaling the Northern Expedition, or just moving around generally.
So, to complete the Dr Crookspine Invention quest you need to find three items: Boots, Rocket Fuel and a Speed Core. These three Exotic rarity items can only be caught in specific places around the first sea in Fisch, so here’s where to find them!
Fisch Dr Crookspine Invention quest locations
To find the three items to complete Dr Crookspine’s Invention, you need to visit:
- Roslit Bay to find the Speed Core
- Mushgrove Swamp to find the Rocket Fuel
- The open Ocean to find the Boots
Dr Crookspine Boots location
You find the Boots anywhere in the open Ocean.
The Boots for Dr Crookspine’s Invention are different to the Trash rarity item you can fish up from time to time.
These Boots are Exotic rarity and can be found pretty much wherever the word “Ocean” flashes up on your screen as you enter an area.
This is most commonly found between major islands and is best to tick off your list as you travel between the other locations, or on your way back to the Laboratory.
Dr Crookspine Rocket Fuel location
Rocket Fuel is fished up from the murky depths of the Mushgrove Swamp.
While you can technically find it all across the swamp, I personally found it in the main Mushgrove Swamp area, rather than the Alligator Marsh.
Despite being exotic rarity, it’s relatively easy to find – probably even easier than rare catches like an alligator or handfish.
Dr Crookspine Speed Core location
Finally, the Speed Core is found around Sunstone Island.
While Sunstone is a deceptively large area, the easiest place to find the Speed Core is just by the dock, next to the Shipwright and other vendors.
Building the Glimmersuit Boots
With all three materials, return to Dr Crookspine and hand over the goods. After a brief thanks, he’ll give you the Glimmersuit Boots as a reward.
To equip the Boots, click them in your backpack to hold them in your hands, then click anywhere else on the screen to equip them.
You should then see your new shoes attach to your character and get a massive speed boost when you move forward!
With that, you’re free to set off on your next adventure tracking down the rest of the bestiary, finding the best fishing rods or working towards entering the second sea.
