Genshin Impact: Should you use Iansan or Bennett?
Genshin Impact Iansan and Bennett comparisons have been floating around since people got their hands on the 4-star Electro character’s kit. At a glance, Iansan and Bennett seem to do the same things – buff the party’s attack by a noteworthy amount. The difference is in the buff multipliers, and it’s a pretty big difference.
Our Genshin Impact Iansan vs Bennett guide breaks down how the two differ and in what scenarios you’re better off with Bennett or Iansan. Iansan is one of the stars of Genshin Impact’s 5.5 banners, but as a 4-star you’ll have a chance of getting her at any point after these banners end, albeit a low one.
Genshin Impact: Iansan or Bennett?
If you’re a new player or just never ended up with Bennett after several years of trying, the easy answer is Iansan. There are few 4-star characters who can buff the entire party’s attack outright without some special requirements. Lynette, for example, only activates her max attack buff if the party’s elemental composition meets certain requirements. Even if Iansan’s buffs are less potent than Bennett’s, a flat 27 percent attack buff that doesn’t require you to stay inside a circle is an excellent boost for any party.
Should you get Iansan if you have Bennett?
If you have Bennett and haven’t messed up his usefulness by activating his sixth constellation, you won’t find a solid replacement for him in Iansan. Bennett’s ultimate at level one already provides more than double the attack buff that Iansan’s does – 56 percent for Bennet, 27 percent for Iansan – and it scales as you level up his talent. Iansan’s doesn’t.
With the Favonius Lance, Iansan seems to generate an equal amount of energy as Bennett with her skill, and her ultimate heals as well. The Favonius Lance is Iansan’s best weapon, so you aren’t missing anything with this setup. Her burst, which is where her buffs and healing come from, requires full or high Nightsoul Points to get the maximum buffs, but she doesn’t require Nightsoul Burst for it to work. You can run Iansan in non-Natlan parties.

Iansan does have access to additional buffs that increase attack by a further 30 percent and general damage output by 25 percent. However, these are locked behind her second and sixth constellations, respectively. The additional 30 percent changes her scaling to 55 percent, which is still lower than Bennett’s multiplier when his ultimate is at level one without any constellations required. It’s also easier to raise Bennett’s attack with Pyro Resonance effects and still have two free party slots.
Still, if you need a second buffer for split-party endgame battles in the Spiral Abyss, Iansan certainly won’t do your party any harm. She also comes with the exceptionally helpful bonus of letting your party move freely. Iansan’s buffs aren’t restricted to one specific location like Bennett’s are.
