IO Interactive has released a new Hitman 3 gameplay trailer (below) showcasing several locations, plus new and returning features and items.
The sandbox assassination game will take Agent 47 to six new locations including Dubai, Dartmoor, England, and Chongqing, China.
Locations from the previous entries in the trilogy can also be imported to the upcoming game and will benefit from Hitman 3’s improvements to rendering, animation and AI, according to IO.
The studio said on Tuesday that Hitman 3 introduces “a new camera that can open locks and analyse your performance with the return of post-mission Playstyles that are awarded based on how you complete missions”.
Writing about PS5 DualSense controller support on the PlayStation Blog, communications manager Travis Barbour also claimed that each weapon will feel unique due to haptics and adaptive triggers.
“One specific (and really cool!) example of our adaptive trigger support is how you activate the Focus effect that slows down the world around you with a sniper rifle,” he said. “When you gently squeeze the R2 button, your finger will reach a tension point that will resist your pressure, and you’ll need to hold your finger against that tension point to activate the focus. When you’re ready to fire, push past that tension point and you’ll feel the “click” of the trigger as you fire the weapon. Boom. Headshot.”
Hitman 3 will be released on January 20, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Stadia and PC via the Epic Games Store. Players who buy the game digitally for current-gen consoles will get a free next-gen upgrade.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Hitman 3 will run in 4K resolution at 60fps with HDR support.
IO is also bringing PlayStation VR support to all three Hitman games in the current trilogy.
“You can either play Hitman 3 in PS VR natively on your PS4 or via backward compatibility on PS5,” Barbour said. “To make sure all PS VR owners can experience the game in VR, we’re including a free digital copy of the PS4 version of Hitman 3 with all PS5 copies, whether you choose to buy it via disc or digital.”
IO announced in November that it’s working on a new James Bond game. Project 007 (working title) will challenge players to earn 00 status in “the very first James Bond origin story”.
