Hogwarts Legacy introduces Defence Against the Dark Arts professor

Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software have been gradually introducing some of the Hogwarts Legacy characters — this time revealing the Hogwarts Legacy Defence Against the Dark Arts professor.

Hogwarts Legacy is still a fair bit away from its February 10th, 2023 release date, but Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software have been gradually introducing some of the characters — along with characters from Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin, the Hogwarts Legacy team has now introduced Defence Against the Dark Arts professor Dinah Hecat.

Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software introduce more Hogwarts Legacy characters

“The stern but likeable Professor Hecat takes her teaching responsibilities quite seriously” Warner Bros. says. “After a successful career with the Ministry of Magic — during which she is rumoured to have spent time in the Department of Mysteries — she retired to become Hogwarts’ Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. Though she is happy to be at Hogwarts, some believe her hands-on teaching method satiates an innate desire for action.”

Characters from each of the four houses have been introduced, too — Slytherin’s Sebastian Sallow was met during a trailer focusing on dark magic; his twin sister is cursed and he thinks she can be cured through the Dark Arts. Then there’s Gryffindor’s Natsai Onai, a “wise, quick-witted” girl who transferred to Hogwarts from Uagadou, a school where she grew up in Matabeleland in Africa, when her mum became Hogwarts’ Divination teacher. Hufflepuff’s Poppy Sweeting is a “bright and compassionate girl” who fiercely loves creatures, and lastly there’s Ravenclaw’s Amit Thakkar, who aims to be a wizarding historian and “will leap at the chance to help a friend in need.”

It looks like more details will be shared across these last few months before Hogwarts Legacy releases — we already know a few, such as that Hogwarts Legacy will have broom races but not playable Quidditch, and that Hogwarts Legacy’s PlayStation exclusive quest won’t hit Xbox for a year — but we’ll keep an eye out for more.
