Your Honkai Star Rail Castorice build might seem familiar if you worked on Mydei or Blade. The 5-star Quantum Remembrance character is, true to her nature, rather keen on reducing the life force of everyone around her, as well as her own. She needs HP above everything else, but also an ally who can heal more than one target frequently. Castorice might have a useful revive talent, but it won’t keep everyone alive for long without some healing.

Honkai Star Rail Castorice build
Honkai Star Rail Castorice Light Cones
As of HSR 3.2, Remembrance Light Cones are still pretty scarce, so Castorice’s choices are more limited. Her signature, Make Farewells More Beautiful, increases the equipping character’s max HP by 30 percent and gives them the Death Flower effect when they or their memosprite lose HP. Death Flower lasts for two turns and lets the wearer and their sprite ignore 30 percent of an enemy target’s damage when attacking. Castorice’s Bone Dragon memosprite absorbs HP from her and the rest of the party for each attack, so she’ll have no difficulty getting Death Flower.
The HP buff means Castorice’s attacks scale higher, and shredding enemy defenses lets those attacks take out a bigger chunk of enemy health. However, despite some of the online noise that says otherwise, Castorice still works just fine without her signature. Sweat Now, Cry Less – the battle pass Remembrance Light Cone – is much easier to get and has useful perks for Castorice. It raises the equipping character’s crit rate by 12/20 percent, and when their sprite is on the field, the sprite and the character deal 24/36 percent more damage. It’s not free, since you have to pay for the battle pass’ premium track, but if you regularly do that anyway, you’ll eventually be able to max out the cone.
Castorice’s only other Remembrance option is the 3-star Reminiscence, which grants the wearer and their sprite a stack of commemoration at the start of a turn. Each stack raises damage by eight/12 percent, and it stacks up to four times for a total of 32/48 percent extra damage. That’s flat damage, too, not attack, which means it’ll be perfect for Castorice.
That’s pretty much it for Castorice right now. She absolutely does not want attack, so avoid using Genius’ Greetings, and Memory’s Curtain from Herta’s store doesn’t have much to offer either. Victory in a Blink, the actual free option from the Forgotten Hall store, isn’t a strong choice for Castorice unless you only want or need crit damage. Victory in a Blink raises the wearer’s crit damage by 12/24 percent, but the second effect, which raises the party’s damage, only activates if the user’s memosprite casts an ability on the party – something Castorice’s dragon doesn’t do. There’s been some confusion leading up to Castorice’s release about that, but even though the Bone Dragon’s ability absorbs ally HP, it targets enemies.
Honkai Star Rail Castorice Relics
Castorice has two possible Relic sets as of HSR 3.2, one of which is Poet of Mourning Collapse.
- Two-piece set: Increases quantum damage by 10 percent
- Four-piece set: Decreases wearer’s speed by eight percent. When speed is less than 110/95 before battle, the wearer’s crit rate and their memosprite’s crit rate increases by 20/32 percent
“Before battle” is the key part of that second effect, as Castorice has a passive trace that increases her speed by 40 percent under certain conditions. If you leave Castorice’s speed under 100, the set’s eight percent speed decrease will get you the full 32 percent crit rate buff.
If you don’t want to grind for these relics and have a set of Longevous Disciple already, that’s a strong alternative for her.
- Two-piece effect: Increases HP by 12 percent
- Four-piece effect: When the wearer takes damage or consumes their own HP, their crit rate increases by eight percent for two turns. The effect can stack twice
Sure, the crit rate buff is lower, but the HP increase is helpful.
You could also mix two pieces of Longevous with two of Poet or, for more Quantum damage, two Poet with two Genius of Brilliant Stars for a 20 percent Quantum buff.
Honkai Star Rail Castorice Ornaments
Bone Collection’s Serene Demesne is a natural fit for Castorice, since it buffs HP by 12 percent and grants the wearer and their sprite a 28 percent crit damage buff. However, it’s not the only set she can use. T-he Wondrous BananAmusement Park is a strong alternative if you’re fine on HP, but want to ratchet up Castorice’s crit damage. It increases the wearer’s crit damage by 12 percent, and when they have a memosprite on the field, they and their sprite get an additional 32 percent crit damage buff.
Fleet of the Ageless is a solid option as well, with a 12 percent HP buff and a party-wide eight percent attack buff once the wearer’s speed hits 120. Castorice won’t be that fast before battle, but once her passive trait activates – or another ally uses a speed-influencing skill – she should be able to hit 120 without issue.
Honkai Star Rail Castorice stats
Castorice is a rare case of a heavy-hitting damage dealer who needs few of the usual stats that DPS characters prefer. HP is her most important by far, as her attacks scale on that instead of attack. Crit rate and crit damage are important, though since her Relic set choices potentially give her a fair bit of both, you’re better off prioritizing HP for the body Relic. Speed is something you want as little of as possible if you’re using the Poet of Mourning Collapse set, and attack does absolutely nothing for Castorice.
So, TL;DR:
- Body: HP percent
- Feet: HP percent
- Orb: HP percent or Quantum damage
- Rope: HP percent
Crit rate and crit damage, plus more HP, are helpful substats if you can get them.
Honkai Star Rail Castorice teams
A quick trot through online HSR communities will have you thinking Castorice is useless without a specific premium team including Sunday, Tribbie, and Mydei. It’s true that these characters work exceptionally well with Castorice. Sunday’s action advance and crit damage buffs help get the most out of Castorice’s kit, while Tribbie’s buffs and all-res pen make Castorice’s attacks hit even harder. Mydei is the easiest way to charge Castorice’s ultimate as well, since he’s constantly using so much of his HP.
However, she has plenty of other options, too. What you want most in a Castorice team is:
- A healer who heals frequently or someone who uses a lot of HP
- A supporter who shreds enemy defense, increases damage – not attack – or (less important) who can increase Castorice’s own crit rate and crit damage
- A second support or sub-DPS
Ruan Mei, who’s free in HSR 3.2, is an excellent choice for buffing, even if Castorice doesn’t benefit from extra break damage, and the free Remembrance Trailblazer is another strong choice if you’re using Ruan Mei in another team. Robin also works, thanks to her flat damage buff and an ultimate that lets allies attack again.
Pela is one of the best and most consistent debuffers who can easily reduce enemy defenses, but other choices include:
Sub-DPS options are rather more limited, if you’re wanting a second character who can suck up HP. Blade, Mydei, and Jingliu are the only options for that. Luocha, Gallagher, and Huohuo are your best healer options, since they heal when characters take action.
What tier is Castorice in Honkai Star Rail?
Castorice belongs in the S-tier of our HSR tier list, with a few caveats. Like Aglaea, she suffers from relying too much on her signature Light Cone, as HoYoverse hasn’t kept up with adding enough Remembrance cones to give people options. Since her ultimate charges with HP loss and recovery, not energy, she also has some team restrictions that other DPS characters don’t. Still, with the likes of Gallagher and, for a time, Luocha easier to obtain, you’ll at least have a steady source of HP recovery even without someone like Mydei or Blade supercharging Castorice.
That, plus the ease of building her, high damage scaling, and her sprite’s excellent All-Type Res Pen bonus when it’s on-field, make Castorice a strong choice, even more so considering how few options for exploiting Quantum weakness there currently are.
