How to beat Everdark Equilibrious Beast in Nightreign
The enhanced boss fight that everyone has been waiting for has arrived in Elden Ring Nightreign, and that’s the Everdark Equilibrious Beast (or Everdark Libra). This abominable boss, who many will argue is harder than the game’s final boss, is only proving to be even more troublesome now that his enhanced fight has been introduced to the game.
Equilibrious Beast, who dishes out copious amounts of Madness damage via the brutal spamming of spells and projectiles, has a few more tricks up his sleeve during this fight. To help you with taking him down and lining your pockets with Sovereign Sigils and shiny new Relics, here’s how to beat Everdark Equilibrious Beast (Libra) in Nightreign.
How to beat Everdark Equilibrious Beast in Nightreign
Before you embark on an Expedition against the Everdark Equilibrious Beast in Nightreign, there are a few things that players should be aware of to help them with the fight. While exploring Limveld prior to the final night, there’s plenty of items, passive effects, and gear to be on the lookout for that’ll help with the final fight of the Expedition.
Here are some tips to be aware of before embarking on the Expedition against the Everdark Equilibrious Beast:
- Libra remains weak to Madness, Holy, Fire, and Slash Damage. Madness/Holy Incantations or a Madness weapon (if you can find one) will help make light work of this fight.
- Libra is best countered by melee attacks. Madness Incantations and spells are great against Libra, but by attacking Libra up close with melee weapons, he’s forced to use his quarterstaff rather than his Incantations. These are very annoying to avoid while trying to attack, so consider melee builds where possible.
- Libra spreads Madness-alleviating crystals around the arena during some of his attacks. Run over these to cleanse yourself of Madness as it builds up.
- Consume any Clarifying Boluses found in Limveld. These provide a permanent resistance to Madness, and every little helps during this fight.
- Libra deals Madness, Holy, and Physical damage first and foremost, so any Relics or passive effects that boost your Physical Damage Negation or Affinity Resistance are good.
- Raider’s Ultimate, Totem Stele, can be used to block Libra’s projectiles if need be.
In my experience, upon starting the Expedition against the Everdark Equilibrious Beast, we were notified that ‘A flame of frenzy appears’. This spawned a huge red circle on the map – shown below – where if you climb a tower surrounded by frenzied villagers, you’ll find some sweet Madness-imbued rewards, such as Vyke’s War Spear, or a Sacred Seal with Frenzyflame Incantations.
This event does, however, appear to be completely random and not guaranteed when fighting the Everdark Equilibrious Beast. If it appears for you, though, don’t neglect it!
As opposed to other Everdark fights, which usually begin with the original Nightlord’s second phase, the Everdark Equilibrious Beast actually begins with his first phase. He eventually progresses into his second phase at around 70% HP, and has a few new moves and abilities peppered in throughout the fight.
If you want a run-down of Libra’s first phase moves so that you’re prepared for the beginning of this fight, take a look at our guide on how to beat Equilibrious Beast (original) in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Everdark Equilibrious Beast moveset and counters
Below, we’ve detailed the moves you can expect from the fight against the Everdark Equilibrious Beast in Nightreign and how to counter them. Just below this, we’ve an entire section on some new mechanics introduced during this fight: curses and summons.
Everdark Equilibrious Beast Magic Attacks
- Explosive Floor Sigils: Libra summons multiple sigils on the ground beneath him and/or around him that will explode after a short delay. Run from these before they explode.
- Projectile Cone: Libra summons a cone of projectiles from above him. Run from this until it disappears.
- Projectile Sigil: Libra summons a sigil that fires multiple projectiles while following players. Run from this until it disappears, or you can attempt to destroy it if you’re brave.
- Madness Rain: This attack typically follows up Libra’s charge attack. A huge cloud of Madness is summoned above the arena, and you essentially want to run as far away from it as possible before it comes crashing down. The crash can be dodged, but this can be quite tricky to time right.
- Holy Barrier: Libra summons a big cross of Holy damage that divides the arena into walled-off sections. Stay away from the Holy walls – which will deal damage and build Madness on you – until they soon disappear.
- Teleport: Libra will summon sigils on the ground, as per usual, but this time he will thrust his quarterstaff into the ground and disappear, before reappearing atop another sigil in the arena.
Everdark Equilibrious Beast Melee Attacks
- Repeated Charge Attack: Libra can become enraged and will charge across the arena multiple times, thrusting his quarterstaff into the ground each time. You want to keep an eye on who he is tracking and dodge to the side of this attack. This is usually followed by Madness Rain, but not always.
- Quarterstaff Combos: Libra has multiple combos and slashes he can unleash using his quarterstaff, but the most popular is when he swings his staff twice before plunging it into the ground. He’ll also perform single sweeps and slashes with it that are not part of combos.
Everdark Equilibrous Beast curses and summons
Once Libra enters his second phase at approximately 70% HP in Elden Ring Nightreign, his first new move becomes apparent: summoning a Condemned. This sees Libra summon a clone of Nightfarers to fight you. If you’re solo, one Condemned is summoned (sometimes two, depending on the below curses), and if you’re in a trio, he’ll summon three Condemned. You want to quickly kill them and continue setting your sights on Libra.

On top of this, however, Libra will also use one of six random curses (sometimes multiple in quick succession) once the Condemned has been summoned. The curse will be shown in the top-left hand corner of your screen, and each curse does the following (thanks, IGN):
- A demon incites a riot: two Condemned Nightfarers are summoned rather than one.
- A demon offers a challenge: your team’s HP is halved until the Condemned has been killed.
- A demon reveals an inescapable eye: Libra summons an eye above you that builds Madness on you if you do not kill the Condemned fast enough.
- A demon preaches madness: the Condemned summoned by Libra is inflicted with madness, meaning they may also fight Libra, or any other Condemned if they’re spawned.
- A demon offers a false blessing: your team each becomes encircled by three gold rings. During this time, using a healing flask before beating the Condemned will rob you of a level.
- A demon shrouds all allies (exclusive to multiplayer only): makes fellow Nightfarers invisible until the Condemned is killed. You can see a blue/purple aura for them if they are downed, however.
As a result of Libra’s new moves, this fight gets very chaotic, very quickly, especially in a trio. When Libra begins summoning the Condemned, he will summon one for each player, which means you may have to take down three Nightfarers before focusing your attacks on Libra. He’ll also curse all players whenever he summons a Condemned, and loves to use his Spells and Incantations during this time too, so it can become quite the frenzy. What’s better? He uses this move – summoning the Condemned and cursing the team – multiple times over.
All in all, it can be quite hard to find the opportunity or time to attack the Beast. Your best bet, in a trio, is for one melee player to keep Equilibrious Beast busy by melee attacking him, preventing him from using Spells while the other players clear out the Condemned as quickly as possible.
That, or it might be worth attempting Equilibrious Beast solo if you’re feeling brave.
