How to complete Zayne’s 2025 birthday event in Love and Deepspace

As one of Love and Deepspace‘s original trio of romanceable companions, Zayne has already celebrated one in-game birthday back in 2024. Try not to think about the fact that the arrival of September 2025 means that LaDS is somehow almost two years old already, and instead focus on the positive: everyone’s favourite aloof yet affectionate doctor is once again in the limelight for his second-year birthday event (and accompanying banners).

Zayne’s birthday event for 2025 is Sunset Finale, which will be running in-game from August 31st to September 7th. That means you only have a little over a week to complete all of the event tasks and wish on those two birthday banners (one new and one rerun), so read on below for everything you need to know about Zayne’s 2025 birthday celebrations in Love and Deepspace!

How to complete the Sunset Finale event in LaDS

Since Zayne’s 2024 birthday event was autumn themed (even though, as a September 5th baby, his birthday’s not even really out of summer), the 2025 event takes the logical next step with a winter theme. This has more to do with Zayne’s ice evol and general thematic association with snow than the time of year, but just go with it, it’s cute.

In order to take part in the event, you simply need to have unlocked Zayne as a love interest. If you haven’t done that yet, you ought to have time before the event’s up, as all you need to do is play through Chapter 2, Stage 5 of the main story, which takes very little time at all.

Assuming you can meet this very easy criteria in time, logging into the game during Zayne’s birthday week and opening the Events tab will take you directly to the Sunset Finale event landing page.

Here, you can see all of the various activities available for celebrating Zayne’s birthday. You don’t have to complete every part of the event – although some activities are pre-requisites for others – but more or less anything you do will grant you a generous helping of Verglas Beads, the unique limited event currency which can only be spent in the time-limited Hope Shop for Zayne’s birthday event.

Like all romanceable companions in LaDS, Zayne’s 2025 birthday event follows a standard pattern, but with some individual theming to make the celebrations feel unique. Here’s an overview of every activity in the event:

Birthday Warm-Up Storyline: A four-part side-story, releasing one chapter per day on August 31st, September 2nd, and September 4th-5th. The story sees Zayne unexpectedly called away to a hospital in the Arctic (see, I told you the seasonally inappropriate theming was justified) right before his birthday, to which the heroine decides to accompany him.

Heart’s Whispers: This one-off activity allows you to write a personalised message of up to 60 characters in a birthday card for Zayne. (You can edit this as many times as you like up until his birthday on Friday.)

Inspiration Collection: A mini-game which tasks you with collecting falling objects (and, at higher levels, dodging undesired ones) to collect inspiration for the various components of Zayne’s birthday cake. Four levels unlock daily from the start of the event up until September 3rd, and you can replay each level an unlimited number of times to ensure you get all the ingredients you need.

Blueprints: Spend the various Inspiration components collected in the mini-game to unlock Blueprints, each of which grants a new DIY idea for Zayne’s birthday cake, as well as a short story of the memory which leads the heroine to choose each design aspect.

DIY: Finally, put all of the components you’ve gathered from Blueprints together to design a birthday cake for Zayne, combining shapes, flavours, toppers, décor, and banners freely. You can save up to 20 daily drafts of different cake designs, and the cake won’t be finalised until you finish up with a candle and bake it.

Finally, beginning on Zayne’s actual birthday (September 5th), you’ll receive a video call from Zayne recounting his thoughts on his birthday celebrations with you.

Hope Shop event shop details

Almost any activity you undertake as part of the Sunset Finale event – as well as some generic in-game feats like reaching your daily Activity Points cap – will earn you Zayne’s unique birthday currency, Verglas Beads (an unnecessarily fancy name for one of Zayne’s signature unmelting snowflakes). Navigating to Shop > Exchange > Hope Shop will give you a chance to exchange any Verglas Beads you earn for the following items:

If you find yourself with leftover Verglas Beads after buying everything else, you can exchange an unlimited number of extras for Gold through the Hope Shop at a generous ratio of 1:25, which is definitely worth doing.

Otherwise, as with other LaDS limited currencies, you can expect them to automatically convert to a permanent currency once the event is through – so you won’t lose out completely if you forget to spend them all in time, though their buying power will pretty certainly be reduced.

Finally, don’t forget to check your mail during the event, either, as upon logging in for the first time you’ll receive 10 Limited Deepspace Wishes that can only be redeemed on the new Dawnbreak Promise banner – you can’t even use them for Zayne’s Destined Reunion rerun, sadly. However, if you don’t use them before the banner expires, they’ll be converted to regular Empyrian Wishes that can be used on the permanent X-Space Echo banner instead. In other words, whether you intend to wish on either of Zayne’s new birthday banner or not, it’s still worth claiming them.
