How to help Jar find light in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is packed with an array of fascinating characters and creatures, and one such creature – one that fortunately doesn’t want you dead as soon as they lay eyes on you – is the mysterious Jar. Found in Spring Meadows, this Nevron requests that you ‘bring light’.

As one of the first Nevron’s our Expeditioners have found that they can communicate with, there’s some tension between Lune and Gustave as they decide whether to help Jar or not. Ultimately, however, that’s up to you, and if you’d like to help them, here’s exactly how to help Jar find light in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

How to help Jar find light in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

You’ll first meet Jar by the Expedition 81 Flag (which is the ‘Abandoned Executioner Camp’ when fast-travelling) in Clair Obscur, and they will immediately request that someone bring them ‘light’.

If you speak to Jar further, they also drop a hint that the item they need is likely something flammable, but where are we going to find that? Fortunately, not far away.

If you continue past Jar and deeper into Spring Meadows, you’ll find yourself in a very blue area full of minor enemies. Soon enough, however, you should arrive at the Expedition 71 Flag (which is The Indigo Tree when fast-travelling).

The item we need – which is a single piece of Resin – is just down the hill from this Expedition Flag between some wooden crates (shown above). You may have already picked it up when approaching this Expedition Flag, but if not, head down the hill and look for the pink glowing item between the crates. You can destroy them using free-aim or jump on top of them to reach the item.

Once you have the Resin in your possession, run back or fast-travel back to Jar at the Abandoned Expeditioner Camp. Talk to them and hand over the Resin.

Once Jar stands, you want to use free-aim to shoot at the lantern at the top of their staff, setting the Resin – and thus, the lantern – alight. Jar will be pretty happy now, until the lantern eventually goes out again. Either way, they’re happy to have caught a glimpse of ‘the light’ and will give you one Healing Tint as a reward.

That’s Jar’s quest completed in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but there is a little more to gain from the Nevron, if you fancy a challenge.

Should you attack the Jar in Clair Obscur?

If you feel like it, you can fight Jar in Clair Obscur after wrapping up their quest, and doing so will bag you some additional rewards. There also doesn’t appear to be any repercussions for killing Jar either.

To fight Jar, select the ‘Attack’ option after finishing dialogue with the Nevron to commence battle. As you can imagine, Jar is pretty tough at this point in the game, but you can always come back later to fight them.

If you manage to successfully fell Jar, you’ll receive three Colour of Lumina and one Chroma Catalyst.
