How to move to another city in inZOI
inZOI‘s Island Getaway DLC is all about enjoying a relaxing holiday in the newly-released city of Cahaya. But what good is that if your favourite Zois have already settled into homes in Dowon or Bliss Bay? Well, good news: the accompanying base game update has also added the ability for Zois to move between cities for the first time.
As with everything in inZOI’s early access release, moving cities is both an experimental and somewhat temperamental feature as it stands, but it can absolutely be done as long as you accept certain caveats, and who wouldn’t put up with a touch of potentially catastrophic time dilation in exchange for a tropical vacation?
Whether your Zois are after a fantasy vacation or a permanent relocation, here’s everything you need to know about how to get to another city and go on vacation in inZOI.
How to move cities in inZOI
In order to move between cities in inZOI, your Zoi simply needs to interact with a computer and select the “Learn how to get to another city” option to get started.
Note that you’ll only be able to do this if you have at least M5,000 in funds; if you don’t, the option will be greyed out. However, travelling itself is free; presumably, the funding requirement is to ensure that you can pay for your Zois’ accommodation once they reach their destination (see below).
The computer interaction will take you to a brief series of pop-up tutorials that explains the key rules of moving between cities in inZOI:
- While travelling, you won’t be able to view your Zoi’s relationships with residents of their home city (except for fellow members of the household). However, their relationships with their original neighbours will be restored when they return home… assuming they ever choose to! Electing to settle in the new city permanently is viable.
- If, while travelling, you switch to play with a different household within the original city, your travelling household’s data will be deleted (it’s unclear at this time whether this just means they will no longer be able to return home, or whether they’ll be removed from their destination city as well – hopefully the former, but best not to risk it).
- Time will only pass for the Zois who are currently travelling – so if they stay away for multiple in-game weeks, they may return home to find that while they’ve had many new experiences and perhaps even entered a new phase of their lives, their neighbours haven’t aged a day!
You’ll then be prompted to confirm whether you want to travel with the current household and, if so, will further need to fill in a rather charming travel checklist to ensure that you’ve read and understood the above rules. Agree to everything on there, and you’ll be whisked away to your destination city effective immediately.
How to go on vacation in inZOI
So your Zois have travelled to Cahaya – or indeed Dowon or Bliss Bay, since the travel feature certainly isn’t limited to the new city, even if it’s clearly been designed around it – so what now?
This is where things get a touch complicated, because while your Zois are theoretically only relocating temporarily, at the time of writing it seems that the game doesn’t truly recognise that. On the plus side, this means that if you do decide to turn your Zois’ vacation into a permanent escape, you can just go with the flow and stay put. More frustrating is the fact that in order to check in to resort accommodation in Cahaya, you first need to invest in some real estate in the city, i.e. buy a new house like you were moving there anyway.
Fortunately, there are a couple of empty lots on Cahaya’s Main Island that cost M2,000 and M3,000 each, which should be affordable since you need at least 5K in your Zois’ household funds before you can travel. Try suspending your disbelief long enough to invest in one of those before heading across the bay to Cahaya’s Resort Island and choosing your actual vacation accommodation – which sets you back between M1,000 and M2,500 per night, depending on how nice a cottage you want to rent. It’s easy to see why you need five grand in hand before you can even think about going on holiday!

Unlike Dowon or Bliss Bay, Cahaya does actually have temporary holiday homes, so if you’ve travelled here in search of a break from it all, you can still do that by heading to the Sri Lestari Resort Lobby on the Resort Island and checking your Zois into one of the holiday rentals using the kiosk by the front desk.
If, on the other hand, you’ve decided to head to one of the other cities in the game, you’ll need to cough up for a new “permanent” home and be content to base yourself from there for the duration of your stay.
