How to unlock Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign
When you first launch Nightreign and slice your way through its tutorial, you’ll soon find that you’ve only six Nightfarer’s to choose from and play as, but there are two more for you to unlock and try out. The first of these is the Duchess, but once you add her to your selection of playable characters, you’ll be able to unlock the Revenant too.
The Revenant is a unique Nightfarer in that she scales with Faith primarily and has an arsenal of summons she can bring out in battle. She’s a support character through and through, but when built well, she’s an absolute powerhouse with Incantations and Faith weapons too. If that sounds fun to you, here’s how to unlock the Revenant in Nightreign.
How to unlock Revenant in Nightreign
After defeating the first Nightlord – Tricephalos – in Nightreign (or receiving the Old Pocketwatch item as a random reward), you’ll want to go ahead and unlock the Duchess. Once the dextrous character has been unlocked as a Nightfarer, a new item will become available to purchase from the Small Jar Bazaar: the Besmirched Flame.
Buy this using Murk – and you can sell some Relics via the Relic Rites altar if need be – and then take a look at your map. There’ll be an exclamation mark in the east wing of the Hold. Make your way there.
Here, you’ll see a small ghost staring into the corner. Interact with them, hand over the Besmirched Flame item, and you’ll soon be teleported to Limveld. This isn’t your usual Expedition, however…

If you enter the ruins just ahead of you, you’ll see the Revenant standing alone at the back of the area, and if you’ve played any Elden Ring at all, you’ll already know where this is headed.
As you approach the Revenant, a boss fight against her and her summons begins, with her boss name being the ‘Night Idol’. The Night Idol herself isn’t too much trouble, but her summons can be if you don’t manage them efficiently. In my experience, you can do one of two things: go in with the Raider and just pummel the Night Idol to death before anyone else has a chance to pummel you to death, or tactically take down her summons before then focusing on her.
Just be wary of her Rings of Light spells, as well as her skeleton summon. He is slow and doesn’t attack much, so he may not seem like much of a threat, but if you don’t keep an eye on the few times he does attack, you might find yourself caught off guard by a beam of Black Flame.
Failed attempts will see you returned to the Hold where you can then approach the ghost and try again as often as you’d like.
Once the Night Idol has been defeated, the Revenant is unlocked as a playable Nightfarer and you can begin the first steps of her Remembrance quest. Her first objective is to retrieve a weapon part from the first Nightlord, Gladius (or an alternative Nightlord I won’t spoil).
