How to use Awakening Hearts in Love and Deepspace
Love and Deepspace is, at its heart, a blend of two classic mobile game genres: otome games (in which a usually-female player character builds up a harem of male love interests), and gacha RPGs (in which the player pulls for loot-boxes that they hope will contain the fighting unit they want, even though the odds are usually only around 1%). There’s a significant overlap between the demographics where these genres tend to perform well, after all, so really it was only a matter of time until a game like LaDS came along and introduced a line-up of bishy husbandos who’re also willing to go to war for you.
Because Love and Deepspace mixes its action-RPG stylings with curated romance routes, things work just a little differently here compared to other gacha games. While titles like Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves have rosters well into the dozens, LaDS only features five major romanceable characters even more than a year after its launch. So instead of pulling for all-new characters every time the gacha refreshes every couple of months, you instead pull for Memories: cards which can be combined to define the fighting stats employed by Caleb, Rafayel, Sylus, Xavier, and Zayne when they go into battle.
It’s these individual Memories you’ll be levelling up as you progress through LaDS’ story, and once you hit the regular levelling cap at Lvl. 80, you’ll need an Awakening Heart to turn that card into a super special holographic shiny. But if you’re a bit confused, don’t worry, since on this page we’ll explain everything you need to know about Awakening Hearts in Love and Deepspace, including where to get them and how to use them.
What are Awakening Hearts in Love and Deepspace?
Awakening Hearts are the top-level ascension material in Love and Deepspace. They can only be used on Memories which have already reached the level cap of Lvl. 80, and provide a final stat boost for a card that’s basically already maxed out.
Awakening Hearts come in two colours: purple and gold. An Awakening Heart can only be used to awaken a Memory of a corresponding colour rarity, i.e. purple hearts are for SR (a.k.a. 4-star) Memories, whole gold hearts are for SSR (a.k.a. 5-star) Memories.
How to use Awakening Hearts in Love and Deepspace
Although they may be hard to obtain – and it might take you some time to get your desired Memory to Lvl. 80 – using Awakening Hearts is thankfully quite simple.
Open your Memories tab and select any Level 80 Memory you want to awaken, and choose the Awaken option. You’ll be prompted to confirm whether you’re sure you want to consume the corresponding rarity of Awakening Heart for that card and – assuming you have one, of course – you can apply it to the card to instantly boost its stats one final time. It really is just that easy!
(It’s worth noting, however, that you do still also need to pay the usual fee in terms of crystals and gold as well for this final stat boost – but since you’ve reached Level 80 and got your hands on an Awakening Heart, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem comparatively speaking.)
How to get Awakening Hearts in Love and Deepspace
Awakening Hearts are one of the rarest resources in LaDS, and getting hold of them isn’t easy, especially if you’re an F2P player. However, there are a few different methods to obtain them, which we’ll outline below:
- Purchase them from the in-game shop: Material packs that you can purchase using real money from LaDS’ in-game shop sometimes contain Awakening Hearts, although it’s worth noting that usually only the more expensive packs do. It’ll typically set you back the equivalent of USD$50 for a pack that includes just one SSR Awakening Heart.
- Obtain from the paid battle pass: A slightly more budget-friendly variation on the option above, you unfortunately still need to purchase a battle pass every two months to have a shot at getting the Awakening Hearts on offer, since they aren’t available in the free version. Purchasing either the Secret Promise (USD$10/month) or Heartfelt Vow (USD$15/month) pass grants an SR Awakening Heart at Level 45 and an SSR Awakening Heart at Level 55 – so it’s much better value than buying a pack from the store, so long as you’re actually going to play enough LaDS over the course of eight weeks to ensure that you’ll get your money’s worth.
- Event shops: Currently the only way F2P players have of obtaining Awakening Hearts is via in-game event stores. Most limited-time events in the game grant their own unique currencies for completion that can only be spent at the linked event shop, with at least one Awakening Heart always available for purchase. Since Awakening Hearts are typically one of the most expensive items in the event shop, F2P players should be aware that they will probably have some grinding to do, and will also likely want to forego the cheaper items in the event shop if they want to ensure saving up enough currency to grab the Awakening Heart.
While they’re not usually so generous as to give out free Awakening Hearts on a whim, you should still check out our regularly-updated Love and Deepspace codes page to ensure you’re making the most of the free wishes and more on offer!
