I’m a gamer, always have been.

I finally found a reasonably priced RTX 5080 pre-built gaming PC: Alienware Aura R16 for under $2400

If you’ve been trying to buy an RTX 5080, you already know it’s nearly impossible to find. Nvidia’s new GPU has been selling out instantly, with standalone cards unavailable or listed at outrageous resale prices. That’s why this deal from Dell is worth a look. The Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC includes an RTX 5080 for just $2,399.99 right now.

Alienware pre-builts have a bit of a reputation, I get it. They’ve been called overpriced, difficult to upgrade, and a bit pants when it comes to airflow. But Aurora R16 has made some noticeable improvements. It features an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F processor with 20 cores and a 5.3GHz turbo boost, a solid choice for gaming, streaming, and multitasking. 16GB of DDR5 RAM (5200MHz) and 1TB NVMe SSD offer fast load times and decent performance, though 16GB of RAM is a little underwhelming at this price. It can be bumped up to 64GB if you need more memory down the line.

RTX 5080 is the real reason to consider this PC. It’s not a massive leap over the RTX 4080, but it does come with DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation, which helps boost frame rates in supported games. If you’re upgrading from an RTX 30-series card or older, you’ll see a big improvement. The main issue is availability. Standalone RTX 5080 cards are either out of stock or going for over $2,000 (RRP is around $1,300), making this one of the few ways to get one without dealing with scalpers. Other prebuilt systems with this GPU are priced above $4,000, so this is one of the better deals right now.

Component Details
Processor Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 processor 265F (20-Core, 66MB Total Cache, 1.8GHz to 5.3GHz)
Graphics NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7
Memory 16GB Dual Channel DDR5 (2x 8GB – Green) 5200 MT/s (expandable up to 64GB DDR5)
Storage 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD
Cooling 240mm Liquid-Cooled CPU + Hexagonal Side Vents / Front Stadium Intake + 3x 240mm Exhaust Fans
Power Supply 1000W Platinum Rated PSU
Motherboard Intel Z890 chipset w/ 3 PCIe with Gen5 Primary Slot(Alienware Aurora R10)
Chassis Steel + Tempered Glass with Alien FX and Stadium lighting

Alienware has also stepped up its cooling with a 240mm liquid cooler, which is a welcome improvement. That said, airflow isn’t as optimized as it would be on a custom-built PC with multiple intake fans. The 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum PSU is more than enough, pumping stable power delivery for high-performance gaming. One downside is that Alienware still uses some proprietary parts, which can make upgrading trickier than with a custom build.

At $2,399.99, this is one of the best ways to secure an RTX 5080 without getting ripped off. It’s not perfect, but considering the state of the GPU market it’s a solid option. If you’ve been waiting for a high-end prebuilt with the latest hardware at a reasonable price, here it is.
