The Late Late Show host James Corden revealed he auditioned for the role of Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

While interviewing Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Corden discussed his experience of auditioning for Sam, which he did with his friends.

Everybody in London auditioned for the Lord of the Rings. It was explained by Corden. I had an audition for Samwise. He made me do it. The accent and everything! Mr. Frodo. Two of my colleagues got in, and we all got back on the next day, and then on the next day on the next day on the next day. And then, none of us were called back.
