Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Devil’s Pack quest guide and tips

0

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Devil’s Pack quest sends you on yet another journey around Kuttenberg following your exploits during Speak of the Devil. This time, the Dry Devil has a request for you – finding his friends. Most of them don’t want to be found and are skulking around in out-of-the-way places, but completing the quest and behaving yourself in the process is a good way to earn some extra treasure, including a new map.

Our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Devil’s Pack quest points out how to deal with Bohuta, Matthew, Ranyek, Adder, and Janosh with the best outcomes. You can find them in any order, but the one we’ve outlined below gives you the most dialogue options to work with and just flows well.

You can complete this quest all at once or just tick tasks off the list as you explore the region and complete Into the Underworld.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Devil’s Pack: Where to find Bohuta

Bohuta is doing acts of service in the churchyard at Grund, possibly in the chapel itself or tending the grounds, depending on the time of day. Speak with him, and he’ll tell you he has no interest in returning to the Devil’s Den, thank you very much. He tells you where Ranyek is, at least.

Should you correct Bohuta’s Latin?

He also asks you to pray with him, and you should accept that offer. With a scholarship level of 17 or higher, you can correct his Latin during the prayer – but you shouldn’t. Say the prayer his way, and you’ll get one of Kuttenberg’s treasure maps for your forbearance. You could correct him, knock him out, and steal the map, but that’s just more hassle than it’s worth.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Devil’s Pack: Where to find Ranyek

Bohuta’s vague hint of Ranyek hanging out somewhere near Pschitoky was correct, sort of. Ranyek was at the inn south of Pschitoky. Speak with the innkeeper there to learn that Ranyek played a dice game and had someone from Bylany pay his debt when he lost. The innkeep also has some advice about where to find Adder. That’s for later, though.

For now, head south to Bylany, and chat with the innkeeper there. Ask him about Ranyek to learn he played with a man named Zdena. Zdena is nearby outside the inn, and he’ll take you to where Ranyek supposedly played dice the night before. Zdena says Ranyek probably escaped through the lavatory, hence his current predicament (his current predicament is being buried in excrement).

Should you pay Ranyek’s debt or pull him out?

Zdena demands you pay his debt, or you can heave Ranyek out of the muck. The other options involve pretending you don’t know Ranyek or fighting the gamblers, neither of which is useful for this quest. Say you’ll pull him out, leap into the s**t pit, and search for Ranyek. Dig around a few times near the middle of the pit, and you’ll find his body.

Ranyek is, of course, very dead by this point. Carry his corpse out of the pit, and set him on dry ground. Take what you want off his body, including the bow.

Should you take Ranyek’s bow?

You’ve got a few options next. You can hand Ranyek’s bow over and leave, or you can pay 1,000 groschen for it, which is a lot. The bow is worth having, as it’s one of the stronger weapons at this point in the game. If you want to keep it and don’t mind stealing, tell them you’re keeping the bow and just run. They won’t chase you forever.

Whatever your choice, make sure to wash yourself off before speaking with anyone else. That stench won’t wear off on its own.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Devil’s Pack: How to save Adder

Travel north to Pschitoky, and speak with Eva, and take a painkiller brew with you if you want a unique interaction. Ask if she had something going on with Adder. You’ll lose reputation, but learn a lot more and get the chance to hand over the brew to help with what her husband did. You’ll also learn that Adder didn’t sleep with her, though you can complete the quest without that knowledge.

Head to the tree marked on your map for a cutscene with Adder and the butcher, and then try to resolve the situation. If you learned the truth from Eva, you can tell the butcher “He didn’t do anything to you; it’s all lies” and then “It’s just slander.” You’ll have to pass a charisma check after that, and then cut the rope on the tree to save Adder.

If you didn’t learn the truth, pick “He belongs to the lord of Suchdol!” (10 impression) for another variation of the scene. You’ll still have to cut Adder down to keep him from dying.

If you fail a check, accuse the butcher of hurting his wife, or choose the violent option, you’ll have to fight everyone there. It’s a winnable fight, but not an easy one, and the outcome isn’t good anyway. You can also let Adder hang, but that’s not a good outcome either.

Should you give Adder a weapon?

Absolutely not, or he’ll start a fight with everyone.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Devil’s Pack: Where to find Janosh

Your next stop is Miskowitz, on the road west of Bylany. Don’t travel west of Miskowitz yet, or you’ll limit your options when it comes to dealing with Matthew.

The Miskowitz innkeeper tells you Janosh is currently occupied in the pillory. Chat with the villain to hear why he tried to kill the blacksmith’s assistant, Loyza, and then speak with the bailiff. The bailiff gives you a few options to understand what happened, but the one that advances the quest is where you say you’ll heal Loyza. You can also talk to the bailiff about Matthew and get a quest related to him.

Examine the injured lad. If you pass a craftsmanship check, Henry gets a better idea of what to do from here. The best course of action is:

  • “Maybe a potion will do” (medium alchemy check)
  • Clean the wound
  • Give potion
  • Finish the treatment

Ideally, you want to hand over a weak or, even better, strong Marigold Decoction. However, you can also finish this part of the quest and have Loyza considered healed by giving him a painkiller and a prayer. Some players reported he lived when they gave him a buck’s blood potion as well, so it could be that literally any potion will save him.

Tell the bailiff Loyza will live, and then pay Janosh’s fine. That’s set at 500 groschen, though you can haggle it down slightly. Release Janosh, and be on your way.

The alternative is doing as Janosh says – waiting until the guards are gone and picking the lock – but no one’s very happy about that. The lockpick challenge is classed as “hard.”

Next on the list is Matthew, who, in a rather on-the-nose twist, is now pretending to be a tax collector so he can rob people. He’s roughly in the middle of the road between Suchdol and Miskowitz. If you spoke to the bailiff about Matthew in Miskowitz, you can find Matthew at his camp and avoid an automatic fight. If not, he’ll ambush you on the road, and your only choice is to kill him.

Speak with him, tell him you’ll let the Dry Devil know Matthew doesn’t want to come back. If you pass the medium speech check – The Devil will have his revenge! – Matthew won’t attack. You can also try for the intimidation check to get the same result, but it’s more difficult. If Matthew leaves the scenario alive, he’ll return to his camp and become a skill teacher. If not, loot his body for the book the bailiff wants.

As far as we can tell, you can’t complete The Collector quest for the bailiff with Matthew still being alive. Your reward for that quest is just 285 groschen, though, so you aren’t missing much.

The rest of the quest has no consequential choices. Report your findings to the Devil, drink with the crew, then chat with the Devil again the next day.

If your pockets are a bit lighter after all this wheeling and dealing, make sure to revisit Trosky at some point to get the Vidlak Bandit’s treasure and the Map Left by the Deceased for some extra cash and valuables you can sell.
