Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Oratores walkthrough and tips

Things finally start coming to a head in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Oratores, as the prep work from The Lion’s Den pays off. Henry and his fellow conspirators settle on a plan to strike at Sigismund where it hurts – his wallet. The road to this point is rather more straightforward than it initially seems – you can’t, for example, torture von Bergow, no matter how much the Devil thinks he might deserve it. However, the quest does include a rather challenging part at the end, involving catching a cardinal, and not the bird kind.

Our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Oratores walkthrough takes you through each step, including where to get the royal treasury key and how to stop the cardinal.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Oratores: Ride to Suchdol and escort Rosa

The first part of the quest is fairly linear, despite the appearance of branching options. Head to Suchdol as the game directs, and speak with Zizka once you get there. Either move time forward to the next day or wait for it to pass while you explore or do other side quests. Once the meeting starts, you’ll have a timed dialogue choice.

It’d be quicker if we just beat it out of him

  • We can’t torture noble hostages
  • An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
  • (Intimidation) A beating isn’t enough!

The intimidation check is classed as “hard,” but it’s really quite hard and requires a stat over 25. Much as von Bergow deserves not to get off free, you need his help. Choose “We can’t torture noble hostages.”

Lay a hand on me, and you will not hear a single word!

  • We’d better behave decently
  • He evidently doesn’t know his place

Choose to behave.

I couldn’t believe the Margrave had finally made a move. I thought he would never march into battle.

  • Wouldn’t you rather cooperate?
  • You’re not afraid, are you?
  • Jobst will sort you out!

The last two don’t lead to anything, so just say “Wouldn’t you rather cooperate?” Next comes a plan to steal Sigismund’s silver so he can’t pay his army. Whether you recommend Christian or Vavak doesn’t matter, as von Bergow has a better candidate – the Papal legate.

With the plan settled, your next task is escorting Rosa through a set of secret-ish tunnels that lead to Ruthard Palace. The trip is comparatively uneventful, until you reach a flooded area. Offer, without complaining, to carry Rosa over the flooded ground. She’ll protest at Henry’s peasant-like manner but is grateful anyway.

Once you reach the next chamber, Rosa stops you and says she hears people nearby. Make sure you equip your best weapons and armor before proceeding and encountering a group of beggars in the courtyard. They aren’t exactly powerful, but there are several of them. Despite Henry’s desire to resolve things peacefully, it seems there’s no way to negotiate with these so-called lowlifes. No attempt at conversation resulted in a peaceful outcome, and while that might be a bug that gets fixed later, it’s best to just prepare for a fight.

Rosa goes off to her tower room to fetch her crossbow, but she should join in the battle by firing a few well-timed bolts at your opponents. Tell Rosa she did well after the fight, then make your way to her room after she says someone’s trying to break in. Heal before you climb the stairs, though, as another band of bandits is ready to attack once you appear. There’s one final enemy outside Rosa’s door. Deal with him, and speak to Rosa.

She’ll ask: Would you still try to rescue my father? Even if it meant putting stealing the silver in jeopardy?

  • Answer “Allies are our most valuable asset” to gain reputation with Rosa

If your reputation is high enough with Rosa, you’ll get the option to kiss her or stay silent after she muses on the consequences of their plan. Kissing her initiates a tender scene between the two, and staying silent just sends you both to bed, separately.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Oratores: Get Vavak’s help and the royal treasury key

Chat with Zizka again the next day, and leave for Kuttenburg’s southwest portion where Vavak lives. If you were friendly with Christian of Pisek at the end of Via Argentum, you can convince the guards to let you in. If not, you’ll have to sneak in, then kill the guards and Christian to get what you came for. If you kept his dirty little secret a secret, he’ll just give you the note. If Christian is alive and friendly, your choices during the conversation won’t matter. He’ll remain friendly and offer his help regardless.

Exit Vavak’s house via the back entrance, and turn right. Next to the wash basin is an outhouse. Dig around in it to find the royal treasure key – and then wash yourself off in the basin.

Go with Samuel or Brabant into the next set of tunnels, take the left branch, and just keep going. There’s little of interest down here until you approach a group of beggars. You can actually negotiate with these guys, unlike the ones at Ruthard Palace. If you don’t want to kill them, promise to leave them alone and they’ll promise to keep your secret in return.

Investigate the dead-end wall when Samuel asks you to look around, and then head back to Zizka. Before starting the next part of the quest, make sure to remove your horse’s saddle for some extra speed. Ideally, you’ll have the Head Start perk by now as well. Unlock it, if not. It requires horsemanship at level eight, which, unless you’ve walked across the entire world, you should have already reached without issue just by riding your horse.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Oratores: Don’t let the cardinal flee

After the cardinal tries to flee, you’ll have to pursue on horseback – hence wanting speed and the Head Start perk. You could, in theory, follow the cardinal through the trees and off the path, but he veers back onto it anyway. Just stick to the main road, and eventually you’ll intersect the cardinal. The game saves before this part of the quest anyway, so if you fail, you’ll start before the chase scene – no need to use Savior Schapps.

Which is bad news for him. What happens next has, seemingly, no alternative outcome, even if you let Adder die during The Devil’s Pack. Once this segment ends, follow the quest prompts to get your clothes, learn about the court from Brabant, and then close things out and head into the next quest, The Italian Job.
