Dragami Games has revealed the new character model for Juliet Starling in the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw remake, giving us our first look at the unchanged but smoother-featured cheerleader.
Did you forget that Dragami Games is working on the remake of 2012’s absolutely fantastic Lollipop Chainsaw? Well, the developer has been pretty quiet about it recently but did give us a look at Juliet via a new year’s post, showing a more refined character, fitting of a game launching more than a decade after the original.
Lollipop Chainsaw remake’s Juliet Starling looks ready for a new generation
Fans on Resetera spotted a new year’s tweet from Dragami Games that seemingly reveals the new model for the game’s protagonist, Juliet Starling, which was swiftly placed into a side-by-side comparison with 2012’s Juliet by Twitter user @TravisDiesAgain. It feels very much like someone took the picture and hit the ‘enhance photo’ button in their editing app before posting it on Instagram — which, in our eyes, is exactly what we were hoping for!
The remake’s producer said last year that Dragami is attempting to ensure the remake is “as close as possible to a remaster,” but for various reasons, such as licensing, couldn’t do a straight remaster. Juliet looks relatively unchanged, albeit with smoother textures that give her a subtler appearance compared to her previous model. It’s a great first look at what’s to come and gives us high hopes that the rest of the game will remain as unchanged as possible. We would have loved to have seen a sequel, but if a remaster, or remake, is all we’re going to get; we would like it to be as close to the original as it can be.
Dragami Games looks to still be aiming for a 2023 release, so it shouldn’t be too much longer until we see a bit more of Lollipop Chainsaw! If you’re up for a bit of undead-smashing goodness in the meantime, check out some of the best Xbox zombie games.
