Marvel Rivals Zombies: Best Thor build

0

Playing Thor in Marvel Rivals’ Zombies mode might seem like a downgrade compared to playing as literally any other hero, and it is – if you’re not using the right build. To be fair, finding that build isn’t exactly intuitive, and it feels like specializing ends up putting you at a disadvantage. However, there are a couple of ways you can help Thor pull his godly weight and be an asset to the team like a proper tank.

Below, we break down a couple of tested Marvel Rivals Thor builds for Zombies mode, including one that’s designed to bump his damage up and one that keeps the rest of your team alive for longer.

If you need to contribute to your party’s damage output, the best way to build Thor is to just slap every blue blessing on him. That sounds pretty broad, but the majority of Thor’s damage potential comes from Awakening Rune and his hammer bash, which is what these blessings govern. Eventually, the goal is to get the legendary blessings Endstorm (which converts Thor’s attacks to a continuous stream of lightning arcs) and Rune Recycle, which makes it easier to activate Awakening Rune quickly again after the state ends.

We recommend including a few purple blessings as well to help keep Thor going, especially if your team has no healer or one that’s busy dealing damage instead of restoring health. Ideally, you want Vampiric Vitality, which restores health based on how much damage you deal (which will be a lot with this build), but prior to reaching a point where you can get legendary purple blessings, focus on health-boosting and damage reduction blessings.

Any of Thor’s skill varieties work for this build, but we particularly like:

  • Chain Bolt (Mjolnir Bash)
  • Concussion Shell (Lightning Realm)
  • Ion Siphon (God of Thunder)

Chain Bolt helps Thor deal more damage in a broad area, and Concussion Shell just makes handling mobs much easier, as does Ion Siphon.

And since this is a Mjolnir-focused build, spend your attribute points on the blue column. Ignore the red.

If you’re playing with teammates who can hold their own and want to try something different, you may want to check out this build from Reddit user HiddenThinks. It’s a more traditional tank build that keeps the heat off your allies and lets them deal damage while you absorb it and focus on crowd control.

If that sounds too good to be true, well it almost is. With all your resources allocated to defense and vitality, you have to rely on your teammates to deal damage, and can be hit and miss outside of the final boss(es). Still, it’s worth a try at any rate, and the crowd control capabilities are exceptional.

The gist of it is to use:

  • Stormchaser
  • Thunderous Might
  • Rune Fountain

These power Storm Surge and keep you afloat, while the purple blessings let Thor tank most incoming hits. HiddenThinks recommends using Thunderclap Surge for Thor’s ultimate and any modifier for the other two skills. Then, in the final boss battle, angle Thor downward at the enemy’s feet while flying to deal damage. It sounds ridiculous, but it works really well and deals enough damage to keep Thor alive thanks to Vampiric Vitality.
