I’m a gamer, always have been.

Monster Hunter Wilds is here at last, and has brought with it a bunch of technical problems for day-one hunters

Monster Hunter Wilds is here, and is absolutely taking over Steam right now, quickly passing a million concurrent players on PC. But, the launch hasn’t gone entirely smoothly for all.

The most common problem appears to be issues when first booting the game, with an error message popping up stating “Sorry, something went wrong” and prompting players to visit a technical support link. Thankfully, restarting Steam appears to be fixing this issue for the vast majority of players, so if this is impacting you, give that a try!

Others are having issues that are more substantial. The game, which is quite beefy, is pushing PC hardware for many players to its limits. In addition, those with set-ups above the mimimum requirement are noting performance issues. It’s worth noting that I, with a pretty decent PC, have been experiencing screen tearing on various occasions, so it’s not some phantom issue.

It’s worth noting that Capcom has made a statement on technical issues on social media, which you can see below!

Then of course there’s the model quality for those with weaker PCs, something that has been discussed extensively since the beta. Some users, such as Impressive-Cry-3448 on the Monster Hunter Reddit, have taken to the internet with a sweep of new hilarious screenshots showing low-poly models. These are funny to look at, but it’s worth noting that for some, this is what the game is gonna look like for the foreseeable future. Pour one out for them.

If you can get past all these problems, MonHun seems to be going down well with a hundreds of thousands of hunters out there. So, if you’ve got a juicy PC you should be set for a good time. Just, spare a thought for those left behind, staring out low-poly stuff and frying their CPUs.
