MultiVersus update doubles character levelling grind

MultiVersus update 1.03 lands later today, with Warner’s crossover fighting game welcoming Rick Sanchez just in time for the character levelling process to take twice as long thanks to updated XP requirements.

The latest MultiVersus update is set to make levelling up characters take twice as long, so while Rick Sanchez of Rick & Morty fame joining the roster as a new Mage-class fighter today is welcome news, you may find it takes a good bit longer than usual to unlock all of his perks.

MultiVersus update 1.03 makes levelling characters take longer

“The XP required to go from level 3-15 on the character mastery track has been doubled. We were finding that players could get to level 15 of the mastery track too quickly. This is to help us make it a bit more of a journey,” states today’s patch notes post, also outlining a host of minor balance adjustments and changes. Shaggy will be replacing Wonder Woman as the free character from completing the tutorial (Wonder Woman can now instead be purchased with Gold or Gleamium), while an anti-infinite system has been introduced to prevent combos that rely too heavily on a single attack. We’re also getting new costumes for Steven (Tiger Millionaire) and Reindog (Chef/Golden).

MultiVersus only added Gizmo a couple of weeks ago and already has another new fighter to try out in Rick. Levelling characters was pretty quick before so hopefully the XP adjustments won’t sting too much, but we’ll have to wait and see how it feels when the patch arrives later on today. Either way, MultiVersus remains one of the best free Xbox games, so having to play it a bit more to max out a character won’t be the end of the world.

What do you make of the changes? Keen to get in the lab with Rick and see what he can do? Let us know!
