Netflix’s Squid Game appears a forever feature, but Google tells me the first episode only aired a year ago. The Korean drama created by Dong-hyuk became a huge success for Netflix, being a global phenomenon, eroding the vast osmans of the world and capturing the cultural zeitgeist at a time when large swathes were wrestling with the resulting restrictions from the Covid-19 pandemic.

In such a good event on Halloween, hundreds of people from around the world dressed in the reconvenient tracksuits the contestants wore on the show. YouTubers decided to copy this show’s format. And of course, Netflix ordered a second series. Even with the reality show, Netflix has been working on, but due to the games that come with the show, no one dies, but this time (we hope) no-one dies if they fail.

Squid Game: The Challenge is a Netflix reality competition that’s looking for 456 real players to enter the game to get a life-changing cash prize. How much does Netflix dangling in front of people? A cool $4,56 million. The casting call is open to all Americans, Brits, and countries abroad.

Under a Tweet for the casting call, Mr. Beast replied: “They’ll accept my application.” The YouTuber spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the show’s games, and has seen 2888 million views since writing this video.

Probably to avoid a shock, no death will be given out in this version of the Squid game. The description of the casting website said that the stakes are high, but the worst fate goes home empty handed. The show will become a hit because it stars 456 real actors in reality television history, and will participate in a “biggest social experiment” by Netflix.

This supersized unscripted show is transforming the scripted world of the drama into reality. Real-life players will be embedded in the iconic Squid Game universe and never know what’s happening next,” the casting website says. “In the end they’ll be going to a series of heart-stopping games to be the best survivor and walk away with a life changing cash prize.” Then there’s a disclaimer attached to the’sole survivor’ that says that all players will leave unscathed.

It ends with the hope that, if a fortune comes up, there’ll be an alliance, will you trust, and will you betray in this ultimate test of character?

Those who cast successfully will have to lay aside time in early 2023 to spend about four weeks on shooting, so don’t expect it to air soon enough after spring. But in the end you wonder what a reality show will tell you the actual situation of capitalism for the 21st century.
