Oblivion Remastered: How to win the persuasion wheel mini-game
Oblivion Remastered’s persuasion wheel minigame is the same as it was in the original Oblivion – obtuse, challenging, and confusing. However, there is a strategy for getting positive results without much hassle and an even better strategy for skipping it entirely.
Our Oblivion Remastered persuasion guide explains how the persuasion wheel works and how to easily increase disposition.
Oblivion Remastered persuasion wheel tips
Oblivion Remastered changed the way the persuasion wheel looks, so it’s easier to determine the effect of your choice without having to notice small changes in the character’s expression – after the first try, anyway. You have four options – joke, admire, coerce, boast – and two are guaranteed to be shaded red and two will be green. Green is approval, and red is dislike. Each option also has a set number of bars, from one to four, indicating the strength of the person’s response to your choice. Four bars for a red choice indicate strong dislike and a large decrease in the NPC’s disposition, for example, while two bars for a green response result in a small increase.
The first time you try to persuade someone, all the options are gold, and you have to notice their expressions to figure out if they like or hate a potential response.
The goal is to maximize the person’s approval, and the wheel turns with each response. For instance, if “Joke” has two bars and “Brag” has four, making a choice will move the wheel so “Joke” has four during the next round. Try to plan your choices around that.
Failure lowers the other person’s disposition or erase whatever gains you made during the more successful parts of the persuasion game. Keeping it low may have some unpleasant side effects as well. In one noteworthy disaster, I had the proprietor of the Inn of Ill Omen’s disposition drop to zero, and he attacked me after the conversation ended, along with his friend. However, you still gain points toward increasing your speechcraft level. At different speechcraft milestones, you’ll reduce negative effects from disliked responses in the persuasion minigame and, at Master level, pay 50 percent less in bribes.
The target’s hatred vanishes if you reload the game, or it did for me, anyway.
Oblivion Remastered: How to raise disposition without persuasion wheel

Another, easier way to improve someone’s disposition is to cast a charm spell from the Illusion class. Charm spells come in three normal varieties – novice, apprentice, and journeyman – while vampires and imperials have separate charm abilities of their own. Higher-level charm spells will, of course, improve the target’s disposition more than lower-level ones, and while they only last for roughly 30 seconds, it gives you enough time to get the deal or information you need before moving on.
You can buy most basic charm spells from Delphine Jend in the Bravil Mages Guild.
