Oblivion Remastered Pilgrimage Quest: Wayshrine Locations
In Oblivion Remastered, the entire Empire is in shock at news of an outrageous attack on the Chapel of Dibella in the western port city of Anvil. With the priests and priestesses killed and the altars desecrated, no one can think of a reason for such a heinous massacre.
However, in the aftermath, a mysterious Prophet has taken to preaching outside the crime scene, and his sermons are causing almost as much of a stir as the attack itself. In the Pilgrimage Quest, you investigate who this Prophet really is and uncover a series of quests that were originally introduced to Oblivion as the Knights of the Nine expansion.
Pilgrimage Quest
After hearing rumors of the attack on the Chapel of Dibella in Anvil, make your way to the secluded city in the west of Cyrodiil and investigate the center of town.
Ask any of the citizens of Anvil and they’ll point you towards the now-destroyed Chapel and where the Prophet delivers his sermons.
Listen to him preach and you’ll learn about the ascension of Tiber Septim to the pantheon of the Nine Divines, as well as a troubling revelation, that Umaril the Unfeathered, an Ayleid deity of unfathomable power has returned and can only be defeated by a holy crusader wielding the relics of the legendary warrior, Pelinal Whitestrake.
Approach the Prophet and he’ll give you more detail about the gods and deities in his sermons, before bidding you to quest for the holy relics needed to defeat Umaril.
When the Prophet asks you if you’re a worthy knight, show humility and answer, “no, I have no claim to fame”. While he says he cannot be the judge of that, he tells you to walk the Pilgrim’s Way by visiting the Wayshrines of the Nine Divines across Cyrodiil – including the one who ascended, Talos, or Tiber Septim.
Below we’ve embedded a map showing the locations of all of the Wayshrines of the Nine needed to complete the Pilgrimage in Oblivion Remastered:
With Fast Travel, this isn’t quite as difficult a task as it could be, however, it’s still a trek that takes you to the four corners of the continent.
When you approach each Wayshrine, interact with it, then move onto the next altar. Even evil-alligned characters can interact with these shrines, unlike normal altars, then once you complete the Pilgrim’s Way your Infamy will be reset.
As you interact with the 9th Wayshrine, you will automatically view a cutscene and move onto the next part of your crusade to stop Umaril!
As you continue on your Pilgrimage you’ll acquire some of the best weapons in Oblivion Remastered, but for more faction quests in Oblivion Remastered, here’s how to join the Dark Brotherhood and how to join the Thieves Guild.
