Samsung, Lexar, And Western Digital SSDs Are On Sale This Week
These days, it feels like several hundred gigabytes of storage capacity on your gaming PC or console doesn’t go as far as it used to. Fortunately, an upgrade isn’t just easy; it’s also quite affordable with these Amazon Big Deals Days specials on NVMe SSDS for PC and PS5. Two of the standout deals here include the Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1TB SSD for only $60 (was $105), while Lexar’s 1TB SSD is down to $65 (was $95). There are several other models and sizes from Samsung, Lexar, and Western Digital on sale during Amazon’s event, which takes place October 7 and 8, and we’ve rounded them up below. After checking those out, you can then head over to GameSpot’s Deals Hub to see the latest price cuts to video games, Blu-rays, and more during the Prime Big Deal Days sale.
$60 – $200
Samsung’s 990 EVO Plus has long been a favorite with PS5 owners looking to add more storage capacity to their console–or PC gamers wanting a quick upgrade–and it offers read/write speeds of up to 7,250/6,300MB/s. Installing it is very easy, but one thing to note here is that this doesn’t come with a heatsink. These are relatively cheap, and you can pick one up for as little as $10.
Amazon is also selling higher-capacity Samsung SSDs, so if you feel like future-proofing your machine, you can get a 2TB SSD with a heatsink for $140 (was $210) or a gigantic 4TB SSD without a heatsink for $200 (was $328). These feature similar read/write speeds to the 1TB SSD.
$65 – $105
Lexar also offers a high-quality NVMe SSD, with speeds that are roughly on par or incrementally better than the Samsung drives. The Lexar 1TB NM790 SSD can reach read/write speeds of up to 7400/6500 MB/s, and it comes with a heatsink. Anyone working with large files can also grab a higher-specced Lexar SSD that can reach blistering read/write speeds of up to 14000/10000 MB/s, so if you work with 4K video files and other resource-intensive applications, this is worth considering. Both of these are compatible with PS5 consoles as well, but the PS5 won’t be capable of using the full speed of the NM1090 SSD, so you’ll want to stick with the cheaper NM790 if you’re looking to add more storage to your console.
$130 – $544
We’ve also included the Western Digital SSDs on sale during Prime Day. The SN8100 are solid options for PS5 upgrades with their read/write speeds that are comparable to Samsung and Lexar, but these are more expensive due to their larger storage capacity. The 4TB model is on sale for $270 (was $380) and the gigantic 8TB version is $543 (was $929). For heatsinks, you can grab one for $11.69.
PC power-users looking to get the best bang for their buck can grab WD SSDS that offer up to 14,900/14,000MB/s read/write speeds and they come with heatsinks in the box.
