There is a problem running the Steam client

If Steam suddenly stops, doesn’t start properly, or closes immediately after starting, you can check if Steam is properly installed by following the steps below:

  • Restart your computer and then run the Steam client.
  • Download the Steam client and reinstall it in the original installation location.

Note: Reinstalling Steam in the same location will preserve all previously installed games.

Failed to reset Nexon Game Security message, and now my game won’t run

There are various reasons for the NGS initialization failure error, but it generally occurs when the NGS file is corrupted or conflicts with Windows or antivirus software.

Please try the following:

Start→ Control Panel→ System and Security→ Windows Update→ Install Update

Update your antivirus software to the latest version and then run a scan.

  • Delete and Reinstall Game

Go to your Control Panel and uninstall the game completely before reinstalling it.

Illegal Program has been detected message error

When starting The First Descendant, a security program will also automatically start. If the security program detects an unauthorized program, the game may be shut down.

If the game continues to be shut down after a certain period of time, please check and remove any unauthorized programs.

  • [Start] > [Control Panel] > [Uninstall a Program] > [Select Unauthorized Program] > [Uninstall] delete the folder where the unauthorized program is installed.

I received a graphics driver warning message

For a stable game experience, please update your graphics driver to the latest version.

The game is closing due to a server version mismatch. Please update.

You will receive this message if you don’t have the latest game client installed. Please update the game and run it again.

DirectX 12 is not supported on your system

If the game doesn’t run and displays the following error message, please follow the steps below and then try launching the game again.

  • Update Windows to the latest version.
  • Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update and update Windows to the latest version.
  • Update your graphics card to the latest version.

The game fails to launch, showing a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error message

If the game doesn’t run and displays the following error message, please follow the steps below and then try launching the game again.

Out of video memory

Devs have identified crash issues with some Intel 13th and 14th generation CPUs and are currently working on a solution.

Connection to the game server has been lost. Returning to the initial screen

If the following error message appears and the game closes, please follow the instructions below.

  • Shut down and restart your computer.
  • Update the game client to the latest version.
  • Run the game again.

I am unable to find the [Request Access] button on Steam

After announcing the Final Technical Test schedule on Thursday, April 25th, different messages would be displayed on the Steam store based on previous access requests.

If you haven’t requested access to Steam during the previous test period:

  • The [Request Access] button will be activated on the Steam store, allowing you to run the game during the test period.

If you have requested access to Steam during the previous test period:

  • The [Play Now] button will be activated on the Steam store. If you have yet to delete ‘The First Descendant’ from your Steam library, the Play button will also be activated in the Steam library.
  • However, until the Final Technical Test period, even if you press [Play Now] in the store or [Play] in the Steam library, you can only access the game title screen, and actual gameplay will not be possible.

The game is frequently crashing/disconnecting

Lag or crash issues may occur in the following cases:

  • If the network connection is unstable
  • If there is a conflict with other programs
  • If the computer is infected with a virus or malware
  • If the device specifications are lower than the game’s requirements

Temporary Solutions for Crash Issues:

  • Close all running programs except for The First Descendant
  • If using a router, connect your computer directly to the network with a LAN cable
  • Update or perform a detailed scan with your antivirus program to remove any viruses or malware

The game installation stops at 99%

It may seem like the game installation is stuck at 99%, but it is actually still in progress. Please allow sufficient time for the installation to complete. If the issue is not resolved, please stop the installation and try starting the game again to proceed with the installation.

Connection to the game server has been lost. Returning to the initial screen

If the following error message appears and the game closes, please follow the instructions below.

  • Shut down and restart your computer.
  • Update the game client to the latest version.
  • Run the game again.

An OPENGL32DLL error popup appears

This issue is caused by an outdated version of DirectX. Please install the latest version of DirectX.

-dx11 to force dx11
