The 65th Grammy Awards will be the first ever to recognize the “best score soundtrack” for video games and other interactive media. “Most award-winning songs represent the best of all video games and all kinds of music and represent the best of the best score,” a new award that recognizes excellence in sound-music, designed specifically for or as a companion to a current video game or any other interactive media within the qualification period.”

TheGAMER DAY DROIT NOW!

Another problem is that the Grammys give game soundtracks awards, and with five players, we just got our first set of five winners. They’re these:

  • Aliens: Firefighter Elite, by Austin Wintory.
  • The new book Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok by Stephanie Economou.
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard by Bear McCreary.
  • Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, by Richard Jacques, by John James.
  • Old World by Chris Tin.

The Game Awards are the Biggest Snubs.

The general vibe you’re going to get from all these albums is emotional background music to shoot, slash, and sometimes manage the life of your proto civilizations. They’re definitely moody and very appropriate to each other’s games, but if they’re something I would put onto my headphones to sound music of my morning work. OK, maybe Aliens: Fireman, but this would be a frantic, desperate jog.

We should not be surprised at the fact that the soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy was made out of instrumental music by Richard Jacques, but it is not the rock album of Star-Lord Band, composed of Steve Szczepkowski and Yohann Boudreault. Frankly, they should have been nominated for best rock album.

This award is the first awarded to games, but it is not the first time that a Grammy award for music contributed to games. In 2016, the award was given to a friend for the song “Meta Knights Revenge” from Kirby and the Forgotten Land. And back in 2011, Civilization 4 star Baba Yetu won the award for best vocal arrangement along with vocalist.

The 65th Grammy Awards will be celebrated on February 5 in Los Angeles; the winners are shown on live.
