The King is Watching – Councilor Picks Guide
Quick Guide to Councilor Picks

Flunkey: Might single-handedly be the best councilor in the game. Getting double denarii is incredibly vital for purchasing upgrades, artifacts, and buildings missing from your build. Being able to get that much denarii without needing to play around prophecy is crazy strong. It also lets you get away with rerolling buildings and such more often without getting punished as badly.
Automaton: You get more resources, probably a vital pick, in my opinion. It makes it way easier to farm early game without having to waste time on research tables or pray for good RNG.
Ember: I pick Ember entirely for the early game. The two musketeers just give you a lot of breathing room to focus on economy instead of defense in the first handful of waves. It might not be necessary, but it makes the early game way less stressful and RNG-dependent, in my opinion.
Fancy Beard: I don’t know how good of a pick this one is, but it works well with my playstyle and general strategy. Plus, stuff starts getting expensive in the later threat levels, with T7 adding that horrible 25% price tag to unit and gaze upgrades.
Julian: Just a really handy ability. An extra 50% production for only 20 wood can get you out of some tough situations if you really need to get some troops out or get the resources for them, or whatever you need. The only problem is that it’s an active ability, and sometimes I forget I have it, but that’s just a skill issue.
Theoretical Honorable Mention
Harpy: Harpy seems like it would be really good because you can just end runs with hard bosses like Volkar or Venoxia. Whenever I lose, it’s almost always to either of these two bosses; the rest of the ones in the village are fairly easy to deal with. I can definitely see potential in running Harpy solely to cherry-pick runs where you get the Maw and Malathrax. I might start running him for consistency.
