Ubisoft confirms The Settlers: New Allies will come to Xbox

The Settlers: New Allies will be the first entry into the series since 2010, and it will be launching in February for PC, Ubisoft has announced, and it’s also in development for Xbox and other consoles.

Ubisoft has kept The Settlers franchise on ice for more than a decade, but now we’re only a few months away from returning to the strategy-based gameplay with The Settlers: New Allies. It launches on February 17th for PC, but surprisingly, Ubisoft has announced that it’s also in development for Xbox, PlayStation, Luna, and Switch.

The Settlers: New Allies is coming to Xbox

At the moment, Ubisoft has only said that The Settlers: New Allies is in development for console, so we don’t have any details pertaining to which generation of Xbox and PlayStation consoles will support it, but we do know that it’ll support cross-play and cross-progression. Aside from the lacklustre launch of The Settlers II remake on Nintendo DS, this will be the first time we’ll have a chance to play the series on a console, so we’re definitely excited about this.

Between The Settlers III and the original Age of Empires, the late 90s were a fantastic time for strategy gaming, and with both Microsoft’s Age of Empires IV and Ubisoft’s The Settlers: New Allies both coming to console (hopefully) in 2023, we could potentially be looking at a similar golden era on consoles — Age of Empires is part of Xbox Game Pass, and you can see many of the games coming to Game Pass in our handy list.

The Settlers: New Allies is a “build-up real-time strategy game,” which tasks you with helping the Elari settle into a new land, create a community, and meet other factions, which can become friends or foes. You’ll be able to play through a single-player campaign, test your skills in the Hardcore Mode, or partake in Skirmishes with and against both AI and other players in eight-player matches across 12 maps.
