What is Feathering in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

0

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers has a lot of different terminology and systems to get used to. Not only are there bamboozling Bamboozlings to seek out, Benedictions and Disciplines to get to grips with when enhancing your weapons, but there’s also a distinct albeit unfamiliar damage type, Feathering.

Feathering in WUCHANG initially refers to the disease that has struck the land of Shu, causing its inhabitants to become monstrous, murderous beings, but you can also deal Feathering damage to foes. Though, what is this exactly? Well, in this guide, we explain exactly what Feathering is in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.

What is Feathering in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

While Feathering in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers refers to the disease that has struck the inhabitants of Shu, causing them to grow feathers and become violent, it can also refer to the Feathering stat.

Feathering has its own stat, alongside the likes of Strength, Agility, and Vitality, and also happens to be the specific damage type of certain Spells or weapons with Feathering properties. Think of Feathering as being a lot like your Magic stat; they function similarly but are fundamentally different.

This means that the higher your Feathering stat, the higher damage you will deal with Spells and weapons that use Feathering damage. Similarly, a higher Feathering Mitigation stat reduces the amount of incoming Feathering damage you take from enemies and bosses.

Feathering, much like Magic, appears to complement those using One-Handed Swords above all else. This is because the One-Handed Sword not only pairs nicely with spells – and charging the Skyborn Might needed to use them – but its branch of the Impetus Repository allows you to unlock multiple Nodes that boost your Feathering stat.

That said, there’s nothing stopping you from unlocking all of these Feathering stat boosts while primarily focusing on other weapons in the Impetus Repository, especially if you’re making good use of Tempering. Tempering is what allows you to modify the damage type that your weapon can deal.

If you go about unlocking the Feathering Bone Needle in the leftmost branch of the Impetus Repository, you can equip this in the Tempering menu at any Shrine, and it’ll add Feathering properties to your equipped weapons.
