As you wrap up the main story in Monster Hunter Wilds, an abundance of side missions will slowly but surely become available to you. One of the earliest of these side missions, which is given to you by Kanya in the Plains Base Camp, tasks you with fishing. More specifically, she eventually requests that you catch a Goldenfish for her.
A Goldenfish may sound rare and elusive, but fortunately, they’re located in the Plains and are very easy to catch using the lure that Kanya gives you. If you’re trying to track them down, here’s where to find a Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Where to find a Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds
To catch a Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will first need to travel to the Plains biome. Given that the ‘Catch a Goldenfish’ quest-giver, Kanya, is located at the Plains Base Camp, it’s likely you’re already there!
From the Base Camp, you want to venture to the Groundwater Vein Pop-Up Camp which is found in Area 14 of the region. Just in front of the camp, you should find a small pond that can be fished in, with some rather large fish swimming around it.
Get your Fishing Rod out using your Equipment Menu, and then make sure you’re using the Golden Bughead Lure that Kanya gave you. You can change your lure by holding ‘LB’ and then pressing Y and A to scroll through the lures you have in your possession.
With the lure attached, go ahead and cast your line and wait for a fish to bite. Reel it in, and provided you’re using the correct lure, you should catch a Goldenfish in no time at all.
Return the Goldenfish to Kanya to complete the ‘Catch a Goldenfish’ side mission and kick off the ‘Catch a Gravid Bowfin’ side mission.
