Atomfall has plenty of key items for players to be seeking out, depending on which quest leads they uncover and which NPCs they wind up meeting. One such highly-coveted item – which you’ll need to grab if you’re hoping to advance Dr. Holder’s quest – is Sample One.
This small sample of Oberon, according to Dr Holder, is vital in successfully destroying the thing. Not that we even know what the thing actually is at this point. Anyway, to help you out with Dr Holder’s quest, here’s where to find Sample One in Atomfall.
Where to get Sample One in Atomfall
First things first, to acquire Sample One, you’ll first need to find and meet Dr. Holder in Atomfall if you haven’t already. You’ve probably already done this, because you won’t know about Sample One otherwise.
Additionally, I recommend finding the Strange Tonic Recipe and crafting one or two of these tonics before advancing Dr Holder’s quest. You’ll find yourself in an area with a few infectious enemies, and this particular tonic can help stave off the status effect.
On the off chance that you haven’t met Dr Holder though, he can be found in the Forgotten Cellar beneath St. Katherine’s Church in Wyndham Village, which is unlocked using the Church Cellar Key that is found in the first floor of the Interchange’s Medical wing. You’ll also likely find an elevator here in Medical that is in need of a Keycard; keep a note of this, as we’ll be coming back here shortly.
During your first chat with Dr. Holder in the Forgotten Cellar, he will give you his Keycard which can be used to access the lower level of the Medical wing, via the elevator we just mentioned above.
Return to Medical and hop down the elevator – pictured above – using Dr Holder’s Keycard. If you advance through the following area, there’ll be a console you need to interact with that leads to some labs (which have plenty of loot and some enemies), and then another console that opens the door to the auditorium.
When you’re done exploring, you ultimately want to reach the auditorium area.
In the auditorium, you will find Sample One on the medical table alongside a corpse. You can then leave and return to Dr Holder, or continue exploring the area.
If you want to achieve all endings, I highly recommend exploring the area further, as this is where you will find the Growth Stimulant needed for Mother Jago’s ending. You’ll also need to come to this particular area later to conclude Dr Holder’s quest.
With Sample One in hand, Dr Holder will request that you free Dr Garrow from Skethermoor Prison next.
