Where to get the Signal Redirector in Atomfall

0

Atomfall has a few key items for players to go about discovering, some of which have multiple methods for getting your hands on them. The Signal Redirector, a powerful device that can be used to hack and reroute power junctions, is one of these items.

Players can get their hands on the Signal Redirector by taking a trip to the heavily-guarded Skethermoor Prison, or by following traces left behind by a character called June. Here’s our guide to both methods, and ultimately where to get the Signal Redirector in Atomfall.

Where to get the Signal Redirector in Atomfall

The Signal Redirector can be found in two different places in Atomfall, and which one you run into first will likely depend on what leads you have. We’ve detailed both methods of acquiring the Signal Redirector below.

Getting the Signal Redirector with the help of Dr. Garrows

First things first, to acquire the Signal Redirector with the help of Dr. Garrows, you’ll need to actually track the prestigious scientist down. A few leads found across Atomfall will lead you to Skethermoor Prison, where she is being held after being captured by the Protocol.

Now, the Skethermoor Prison area is heavily guarded, and getting inside is no easy feat. That is, unless you earn a favour from the Protocol’s Captain Sims first. Doing so will earn you a pass to explore Skethermoor Prison freely, without the threat of its soldiers and robots looming over you.

To gain this pass from Captain Sims, have a chat to him inside of the Village Hall in Wyndham Village. Here, he essentially says he will help you if you help him by providing information about any inappropriate activities across the Village. Depending one what you’ve done up until this point, you’ll have a few options as to what information to give him:

  • You can inform him that there’s been a murder at the church.
  • You can inform him that Morris Wick is a murderer.
  • You can inform him that Iris the Baker’s husband ought to be looked into.

After essentially snitching on someone to Captain Sims, he will then request that you make your way to Skethermoor Prison to interrogate Dr. Garrows, assuming she’ll take better to being questioned by a stranger than one of his own men. As a result, he then gives you your pass to enter the area without folk immediately trying to gun you down.

With that done, make your way to Skethermoor Prison and head inside the facility. Go down the stairs in front of you and into the small room on your right, where you can retrieve the Prison Security Keycard. Before leaving, interact with the control panel here to open the gate to the Holding Cells.

You will also find the Prisoner Transfer: Diane Garrow Note here, which tells us that she is in solitary confinement at the back of the facility, and that her belongings – including an unknown electrical device – are in the Restricted Access Security Storage cupboard. Keep this in mind for later!

Head downstairs from the Holding Cells and use the Prison Security Keycard on the door to the Lower Floor. Then, follow the signs to the Loading Bay to eventually find Dr. Garrows in a small cell in the middle of the area.

Speak to Dr. Garrows here, and if you care for completing Captain Sims quest, attempt to extract some information out of her for the Captain before agreeing to free her from her cell. She should reveal that the unknown confiscated device she had with her was the Signal Redirector.

We need to collect this confiscated device – the Signal Redirector – for her and use it to free her next. In the Loading Bay still, look for a room labeled ‘Security’. The Signal Redirector is on a shelf here.

Now, if you wish to continue Dr. Garrow’s quest, you’ll want to use the Signal Redirector on the power junctions inside of the Control Room to unlock all of the cells in the prison.

Do this by climbing into Electricals through the small ledge that is to the right of the Control Room (in the Loading Bay still), and using the Signal Redirector on the power junction here to unlock the Control Room door.

You will then be able to enter the Control Room and pull the control panel’s lever (just up the stairs) to free all inmates in the prison. All guards and soldiers will become hostile again as a result, so make sure you’re prepared for combat.

Alternatively, if you don’t care for Dr Garrow’s quest, you can just leave her here and return to Captain Sims.

Getting the Signal Redirector with the help of June’s Key

God knows who June really is in Atomfall, but she certainly didn’t meet a pleasant fate when the Protocol became suspicious of her. If you pay a visit to the The Little Tea Room in Wyndham Village (the burnt out house just north of Grendel’s Head), you will find June’s Key, landing you at the beginning of our second method of acquiring the Signal Redirector.

June’s Key can be used on June’s Lockbox, which is found in the back office of the Village Hall in Wyndham Village. Here, you’ll acquire the June’s Errands Note, which mentions she was burying flowers in the ruins next to the boathouse and gives you a new lead.

So, make your way over to the boathouse, which will now be marked on your map, and make sure you have a metal detector to use. If not, pay a visit to one of the many Traders around Atomfall – such as Alf in Grendel’s Head – and trade some items for the metal detector. It’s worth grabbing, as the device can be used to uncover all sorts of secret caches.

Use the metal detector around the boathouse, and when it has five red lights and begins making a hell of a lot of noise, begin digging to uncover a cache. This cache contains June’s Diary, as well as a note detailing some of the Protocol’s secrets; one of which is the BARD Safe Room inside of a Protocol Workshop in Skethermoor. Guess where we’re going next?

Head over to the Protocol Workshop, marked on the below map.

Inside the Workshop, take a right and then a left to reach the bathroom. Here, you’ll be able to squeeze through a gap into one of the bathroom stalls, and there’ll be a ledge to climb over.

Retrieve the Windfall Key and Windfall’s Discovery Dies With Me Note from the corpse in the following room. The note reveals that you can find the Windfall Crate in the Protocol Field Station in Skethermoor. This is all we need to continue tracking down the Signal Redirector, but be sure to advance into the BARD Safe Room and loot it before leaving; there’s some pretty good loot in there!

When you’re done at the Protocol Workshop, it’s time to visit the Protocol Field Station, which is just south of the Ruined Hamlet in Skethermoor and marked on the below map.

Inside the Field Station, you’ll need to prepare to take out a gang of soldiers or sneakily stealth your way around the area. In the Storeroom of this particular bunker, you’ll find the Windfall Crate.

To get it, go straight ahead from the entrance, take a left, and look for a green metal door on your left. The Windfall Crate – which looks a lot like a BARD Crate – is inside of this room.

Once you find the Windfall Crate, use the Windfall Key to unlock it, and you will find the Signal Redirector inside. Voila!
