Where Winds Meet Solo Mode Level Guide
You might think that the giant open world of Where Winds Meet is at its most dangerous right at the start of your journey, as you venture out unfamiliar with your signature martial arts and have the fewest abilities and resources available to you.
However, thanks to the ever-increasing challenge presented by Solo Mode Levels, you can both tailor your difficulty experience and push yourself to reach greater rewards by taking on harder content.
Here’s everything you need to know about Solo Mode Levels in Where Winds Meet, as well as where and how to trigger them.
How to advance Solo Mode Levels in Where Winds Meet
Solo Mode Levels in Where Winds Meet function like World Levels in other open world games.
Once you reach the level cap of your current Solo Mode Level, you can press the options button and select the “upgrade” option underneath your character portrait to advance the level.
The first Solo Mode level runs until Level 15, the second until Level 20, then the third until Level 30.
To advance further past these levels, you need to make the step up and fight harder enemies, but if you don’t choose to, all of your XP will be stored until you decide to take the jump.
What do Solo Mode Levels do in Where Winds Meet?
Functionally, Solo Mode Levels do a few things:
- Increase the base level of enemies, increasing their strength and difficulty
- Increase your character’s base attributes, including their Precision Hit rate and Five Virtues, increasing their strength too
- Raise the Max Level Cap of your character
- Raise the Max Energy Cap of your character, which allows you to claim rewards from activities
- Gives a suite of Breakthrough Rewards, including Echo Jade, Zhou Coins, leveled gear, XP and upgrade materials
Why should you upgrade your Solo Mode Level?
Aside from making enemies more of a challenge and stopping the game from getting stale, there are many reasons why you should advance your Solo Mode Level.
Firstly, increasing your Max Energy allows you to complete more repeatable activities and claim rewards for your efforts. For example, certain main quests and bosses are repeatable, but to grab rewards at the end of the mission you need to expend energy. Essentially, raising your Solo Mode Level lets you do more of the fun stuff and actually get rewarded for it too.
Next, progress on many of the different character progression trees is locked by Solo Mode Level. For instance, you can’t unlock your 5th Mystic Art slot and 3rd Weapon Skill on the Talent Tree until you reach Solo Mode Level 3.
