Where to Upgrade Hornet’s Needle
You can upgrade Hornet’s Needle at the Pinmaster in Bellhart. He is a little bit above the town once you remove Bellhart’s curse.
The first upgrade is free. Every other upgrade after that costs 1 Pale Oil.
In Act 3, Pinmaster is not at his place. A sign outside says he is at the great wood cemetery. You can find him there.
The area around him has three waves of void enemies. After you defeat them and talk to the Pinmaster, he will go back to Bellhart.
Pale Oil #1
You can get the first Pale Oil from the Pinmaster’s Wish. He will tell you about it. You can also find it on your own while exploring.
The oil is in the Choral Chambers, in the top right section. It’s below the Songclave. To get it, you need to go through the Whispering Vaults and solve some puzzles.
Pale Oil #2
To get the second Pale Oil, you need to complete the “Great Taste Of Pharloom” Wish. This wish requires five items from different parts of Pharloom. After you collect all of them, give them to Loyal Mergwin in the Choral Chambers dining room.
Here is how you get each item:
Mossberry Stew
Talk to the Moss Druid in Mosshome. Do this while the wish is active.
Vintage Nectar
Go to Creige’s cellar in Halfway Home in Greymoor. You need to pay Creige 480 Rosaries. The wish must be active. After you pay, go into the cellar and defeat the ants to get the item.
Pickled Muckmaggot
Go to the top right of Sinner’s Road. Use the Faydown Cloak double jump to get there. You will need to defeat a few enemies and the boss, Disgraced Chef Lugoli. The boss will drop the item.
Crustnut
Go to the Sands Of Karak, through Blasted Steps. The item is to the left of the middle of the area. You will need the Clawline and the Faydown Cloak double jump to get there because of the platforms.
Courier’s Rasher
This item is from the Couriers Tipp & Pill. To get it, you must first finish Bellhart’s wish to find their sibling. The couriers are in Bellhart, a bit above the town. After you get the Courier’s Rasher, you must deliver it to Loyal Mergwin. You will have a time limit. You cannot fast travel, run into walls while sprinting, or take damage. If you get the item to him on time, you finish the wish.
Pale Oil #3
The 3rd Pale Oil is in Act 3 at Fleatopia. You can get it after you take Mooshka’s last quest from a board. When you get back to Fleatopia, the Flea Carnival begins.
To get the Pale Oil, you need to beat all the minigames and get a higher score than each flea. The scores you need are:
- Juggling: 30
- Dodging: 65
- Bouncing: 42
After you finish the games, talk to Mooshka. This starts the final ceremony. Hit the pinata to get the Pale Oil.
A good way to beat the minigames is to use the Wanderer’s Crest and the Longclaw trinket. This makes your slashes faster and longer.
