Steam Deck Guide to Transfer Playtest Data to Early Access

By nerdpiggy

The save transfer didn’t happen automatically for me & this was how i brought my playtest save over to early access. This worked for me!

Disclaimer

If you’ve started new save data in early access, this will most likely wipe that data because it involves overwriting the early access save folder with the playtest save folder.

  • Go into desktop mode (press & hold power button until a menu pops up and choose Switch to Desktop).
  • Open Dolphin (blue icon that looks like a folder). if you haven’t before, click the hamburger menu icon in the top right and click “show hidden files”. you can tell if hidden files are shown if you see a lot of files appear that look greyed-out.
  • Click .local > share > Steam > steamapps > compatdata

The beastieball playtest app ID is 3000570 so click that folder. if you need to transfer saves from the demo, click 2404130 instead.

  • Click pfx > drive_c > users > steamuser > AppData > Local > beastieball
  • Copy the “save” folder (right-click is mapped to left trigger by default)
  • Go back to compatdata and now go to 1864950 (app ID for beastieball early access)
pfx > drive_c > users > steamuser > AppData > Local > beastieball
  • Paste the save folder. youll get popups for file name conflicts. for each popup click “write into” or “overwrite”. If you have started new save data in early access this will most likely erase that data! if you’re like me and didn’t start any new saves, then you don’t need to worry.

Now you can exit Dolphin and exit desktop mode by clicking “Back to Gaming Mode” in the top left. once you’re past all the loading screens you can open Beastieball and voila there’s your save.
