Abyss Races Tier List and All Skills
So you know whether to stick or twist when rolling in Abyss, here’s a full list of every Race’s Skills and a tier list of which Races are the best.
When the Kraken dragged you down to the Forgotten Deep at the beginning of the game, who knew that so many changes were afoot – or should it be “a-fin” or “a-claw”? As your undersea adventure begins, where you explore the oceans in search of fish and treasure, you can re-roll your character’s Race, giving you all sorts of special abilities and bonuses.
While more common Races have relatively minor effects, Epic Races and above give your character absolutely huge buffs with basically no downside, including increased oxygen capacity, carry weight and even passive benefits like damage reduction from aggressive predators.
Since Abyss doesn’t show it to you in-game, here’s what every Race does in Abyss, as well as a tier list of which Races are the best ones to aim for when re-rolling.
Abyss Race Tier List
| Tier | Races |
|---|---|
| S | Kraken, Sea Angel |
| A | Vampire Squid |
| B | Shark, Anglerfish |
| C | Pufferfish, Narwhal, Spirit, Crab |
| D | Monkey, Fish |
| F | Human, Poop, Coral, Elf, Cyclops |
Tier List Rationale
As with most Roblox games, the rarest Races in Abyss are the best because they give not only more powerful buffs than the more common Races, but more individual buffs too.
This means that the Kraken and Sea Angel both belong in S-tier.
Below that, I’ve put the Vampire Squid in A-tier because it has an unbelievably good ability, but it’s missing a Cash boost which would elevate it to the top of the list. Its ability gives you back 10% of the damage you deal as Oxygen with a 15 second cooldown. This means once your damage gets over 150 or so, you can replenish your air supply faster than it’s depleted and stay out in the ocean fishing until your bag is full.
Underneath that in B-tier I’ve put the second Legendary Race, the Shark, and the Epic Anglerfish.
The Shark is undoubtedly strong, with hefty damage and a really nice cash boost. However, further buffing its already beefy damage is, literally, overkill compared to the better Races and is too difficult to activate consistently to be as useful.
On the other hand, the Anglerfish just has lots of good, solid abilities which make it better than the other Epics. Good Cash boost, good damage, a good chance to double your catches and lighting up dark areas is very good when you start to get into the tunnels past Spirit Roots.
The C-tier is in some ways the toughest spot to be, because you can do worse than rolling one of these but you can still roll much better, so it’s hard to decide whether to try again or stick when you have limited Shards. They’re all fine, but the Crab and Spirit are the best in C-tier.
The Crab has good bonuses, but can be unreliable in a pinch. Whereas the Spirit has a good Cash boost and an ability which saves you more than you think, but doesn’t offer as much outside of that as the better Races.
The D-tier Races, the Monkey and Fish, have decent stats which are never a bad thing, but are simply outclassed by better Races.
Finally, the F-tier Races aren’t worth discussing in much detail. “F” is what you’ll be asking for in chat if you roll one of these.

How to re-roll Races in Abyss
To re-roll your race in Abyss, you need to press or click on the “Races” icon at the top of the screen at any time. From here, you will be able to perform either a normal roll or a lucky roll using Star Shards.
Star Shards are collected by completing quests, catching new fish to register in the bestiary, as well as by playing the game to fulfil achievements.
Lucky rolls have a higher chance of getting rarer Races. They’re worth saving up for since the Epic and above rarity Races are so much better than the more common ones. If you get one, it’s worth sticking with until you can get an extra slot for another option.
