Nivalis has a new name and a release date that will make your autumn backlog even bigger

It’s looking like autumn will be a nice little season for the cyberpunk genre. There’s the long awaited Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which got a lush looking trailer earlier this week. And now, Cloudpunk developer Ion Lands are here with a concrete release date for Nivalis, and a slightly new game for the futuristic restaurant managing life sim too.

Slightly really is key here, as the game is now titled Nivalis Nights, which I admit does have a nice, noir ring to it that fits the game’s vibe quite well. And that release date? September 29th. Yes, I know, I know, that’s when every other game bar one involving vehicular related crime is launching, but at least it’s not September 24th like Control: Resonant, Silent Hill Townfall and, while not really a competitor with any of these, Garfield – Escape from Monday. A packed month nonetheless.

You may remember that Nivalis was originally set to launch in 2025, but was delayed in October of that year. According to a Steam blog post from Ion Lands, it’s because they’ve had a small bit of trouble on their hands. “Since last October, we’ve been quietly sorting out a legal matter at Ion Lands with a third party behind the scenes,” the post explains.

“Because of this, we had to put our marketing and announcements on hold. The great news? The obstacles have been resolved, and we are ready to charge ahead!” Ion Lands didn’t go into any detail as to what this legal matter is, and if the name change has anything to do with it, but it at least partially clarifies why the game was delayed so much.

The game continues to look impressive in its latest trailer too. There’s a strong sense of space on display that I hope carries through to actually playing it. You also get a look at bits like fishing, chatting, decorating your room, and just exploring the murky streets of the city.

You can wishlist Nivalis Nights on Steam.
