However, Evolution in Catch a Monster works differently to other monster-taming games you might have played. Rather than evolving automatically when they reach a certain level, monsters instead need to be given special materials to unlock their true potential.

How to evolve monsters in Catch a Monster

To evolve a monster, you need to follow these steps:

1. Go to the Pet Evolution kiosk in Skyheart Isle
2. Select the monster you want to evolve
3. Add the required evolution materials, such as Bedrock Bracer or Stardust Shard
4. Add a combination of Refined Gems to give yourself the best chance of the evolution you want
5. Hit evolve and cross your fingers

When a monster is evolved it gets assigned an “EM” value, which boosts its power past its base stats – this is what gives evolved monsters the potential to be so good.

If you’re not happy with your creature’s EM, you can reroll it from a Pet Evolution kiosk with a Chaos Potion, which you can get from the Endless Spire shop.

To get evolution materials, you need to defeat bosses around the game’s world. For example, Bedrock Bracer comes from Gildron on Dustveil Isle and Stardust Shard comes from ShadeKnight in Neverland.

Refined Gems are dropped by normal monsters across different islands, but are quite rare. This means you will have to grind lots of them for literally hours to get enough, but you can leave it on while you AFK to make things easier.
