Here’s which monsters you need to defeat to collect as many Refined Gems as possible in the Roblox experience Catch a Monster.
Refined Gems are a key ingredient in evolving your companions in Catch a Monster. There are 5 different types of Refined Gems to find: Fire, Water, Ice, Grass and Ground.
These Refined Gems unlock the true potential of your monsters, allowing you to get both the best evolutions possible, but also super-powerful secret evolutions too.
Different elements of Refined Gems unlock different evolutions, so it’s important to get as many of each type as possible. However, you will need to grind a lot of weaker monsters to get what you need.

Where to get Refined Fire Gems
You can get Refined Fire Gems from:
- Panguard on Duneveil Isle
- Dollfey in Neverland
Refined Fire Gems are used in a few secret evolutions, including the 3 you need for Eclipse Knight and the 4 you need for Flaragon’s secret variant.
Where to get Refined Water Gems
Strangely, rather than dropping from a creature of the same element, the best place to farm Refined Water Gems is from Stonebara at the start of Duneveil Isle.
You can also get them from Hydribbit in Neverland.
Refined Water Gems are mostly used as with other Gems which need multiple elements to unlock secret Evolutions.
Where to get Refined Grass Gems
Next, the best place to farm Refined Grass Gems is from Knockroos in Duneveil Isle. This is not just because they have the highest drop rate, but also because you can encounter the rare DuskWing too.
DuskWing is the best free-to-play mount in Catch a Monster, so you’re getting a really good bonus for your time.
If you’re more comfortable with farming in Neverland, then Dreamtane also drops Refined Grass Gems.
Refined Grass Gems don’t drop too often, but aren’t as difficult to get as some others. And that’s good too, because you need a full 20 of them to get the best chance of getting the secret Titantusk, which is considered one of the best monsters in the game.
Where to get Refined Ground Gems
For Refined Ground Gems, make your way to the top of Duneveil Isle and grind Aurobulls in front of the Gildron boss room.
They drop quite a lot slower than pretty much all of the other gems, but they’re worth collecting since you need at least 10 to unlock the secret Solron evolution for Gildron.
Where to get Refined Ice Gems
Refined Ice Gems are a bit of a different story, because they can’t be farmed in Duneveil Isle.
To collect them, you need to grind Nightclaws in Neverland.
Ice Gems are worth making the trip to collect because they’re vital for the secret Evolutions which require one of every gem, such as the mighty Solron.
