Mining has come to the world of Fisch in the form of helpful Crag Crabs on Scoria Reach. In return for a gleaming pearl plucked from inside a Lava Clam, Crag Crabs will mine the molten rocks found throughout Scoria volcano and return with unique gemstones.
Or at least they can, you can also get a lot of junk which you’ve probably already dredged from the lava to get to this point.

How to catch Crag Crabs in Fisch
While the main function of Crag Crabs is to mine for you in Scoria Mines, you can also find them as a Secret rarity fish in the normal bestiary.
Just to the right of the entrance of the Scoria Mines, there’s a tiny Crag Crab abundance spot. It takes some manoeuvring to hit correctly, but this is the best place to catch a Crag Crab of your own.
How to send Crag Crabs mining in Fisch
To send a Crag Crab mining for unique gems in Fisch, you need to trade them for a pearl first.
If you’re lucky, you might’ve already picked up what you need by fishing in the lava pool near Ashbrook Town, a Lava Clam.
Like regular clams near Roslit, these drop an extra pearl when caught, which can be of different rarities. The base pearl from Lava Clams is the Sulphur Pearl.
With a pearl in-hand, go from town down the elevator to Scoria Mines. Inside, hop over the surging lava to the back of the mine and you should find many different Crag Crabs scuttling around in the dark.
Choose one, then hold your pearl in your hands to offer to the Crag Crab. Accepting your gift, the Crag Crab will then set to work mining, then in 5 minutes you’ll be able to return (you can leave the area without resetting the interaction) and claim your prize.
From Crag Crabs you can receive:
- Trash like Slag, Basalt and Rocks
- Volcanic Geodes which you can open for bait and fish like crates
- Gemstones and fragments such as the Ashen Gem and Cinder Crystal for your Bestiary
The chance of receiving the gemstones is quite low, and the long process in sourcing pearls to hand over means you’re going to be working for a long time to get what you actually need.
Still it’s a fun new interaction and something different to do with your catches instead of just selling them automatically.
