How to collect and use Archiboos in Petit Planet

0

HoYoverse have never been shy about showing their inspirations in their various games, but I wasn’t expecting to see Petit Planet prominently featuring a critter that clearly owes its origins to Tribbles, the iconic fuzzball extraterrestrials from Star Trek. I mean, yes, we’re in space, and yes it’s all very cute, but who’d’ve honestly thought you’d be collecting alien rodents and gifting them to your neighbours?

Well, that’s exactly what you will be doing with Archiboos. Although Petit Planet isn’t an RPG like most of HoYo’s other games, there’s still some character levelling to be done, and believe it or not, these are the “materials” with which you’ll be doing it. Read on for an explainer on how to collect and use Archiboos in Petit Planet.

How to collect Archiboos in Petit Planet

You don’t have to go out of your way to collect Archiboos in Petit Planet, since they accumulate around you as you go about your daily tasks in the game and are automatically added to your collection.

However, since there are five different types of Archiboos and you will eventually need to start collecting some specific ones, it’s a good idea to understand where each type comes from:

  • White Archiboo: The most common Archiboo and the type you’ll need for early-game uses. There is a chance to gather White Archiboos from any activity.
  • Green Archiboo: A nature-themed Archiboo that can be gathered while shaking trees, catching insects, farming, gathering, and harvesting crops.
  • Yellow Archiboo: A creativity-themed Archiboo that can be gathered while cooking, crafting, and woodcutting.
  • Red Archiboo: An earth-themed Archiboo that can be gathered while mining, digging, and picking mushrooms.
  • Blue Archiboo: A water-themed Archiboo that can be gathered while fishing, beachcombing, and watering and fertilising crops.

A collection of multi-coloured fuzzy round creatures are shown in a forest glade with a stream running through it in Petit Planet's Archiboos collection page. An explainer of Archiboo spawn rates is also shown.

How to use Archiboos in Petit Planet

As well as being cute to look at, Archiboos are integral to strengthening your relationship with your Neighbors.

Opening up the Starcove app and selecting a Neighbor will display a kind of galactic mind palace that functions as the character’s relationship panel, info panel, and upgrade screen. Here you can find the Growth tab, where you can assign Archiboos to increase their Planette level in exchange for unique rewards. Assigned Archiboos will hop adorably around their chosen character’s Planette whenever you visit the screen from then on.

Petit Planet neighbour Isaki (a small foxlike boy) is shown on his Planette, walking among various Archiboos. His level tracker is shown across the bottom of the screen.

Tabbing over each Planette level shows the Archiboos required to unlock that level’s rewards. Most of the time White Archiboos will do the job, but a couple of levels for each Neighbor additionally require specific (usually different) colours of Archiboo that reflect that Neighbor’s personality and interests.

If you want to check your current collection of unassigned Archiboos, you can click on the Archiboo icon just to the left of any Neighbor’s Planette level tracker.
