Maverick Game’s reveals Clutch, an open-world racer set in the rather gorgeous-looking French Riviera

Clutch – the cinematic, open-world, action-driving game from the team at Maverick Games, and which is being headed up by former Forza Horizon creative director Mike Brown – just got itself a very slick new trailer at this evening’s Summer Game Fest show, showing of its rather lovely rendition of Monaco and the French Riviera.

As well as the trailer, which you can see below, we also got word that Clutch will be launching in Spring 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The game itself has a pretty impressive cast attached to it, with the likes of Jane Perry of Returnal (and many more) fame and Dark Souls 2’s Mild-Mannered Pate actor Peter Serafinowicz (he also starred in the first series of Amandaland, which was very funny) both involved in the project. Meanwhile, racers Theo and Cass will be played by Tosin Cole (Supacell, Doctor Who) and Little Simz (Top Boy, Venom: Let There Be Carnage).

“We’ve built a version of Monaco that is actually larger than real-life Monaco. So Monaco, known for being quite dense and tight, we’ve allowed our level designers to add a little bit of space here and there – but every main road, every main landmark is present and correct. But the actual footprint of the space is larger than real-life Monaco,” Brown said to IGN following Clutch’s reveal this evening.

“And then that’s surrounded by a sprawling French Riviera that goes up as high as the Alps and out to the Verdon Gorge, and then as far to the west as Saint-Tropez. We have three city hubs along the coast; you’ve got Monaco, and then Cannes, and then Saint-Tropez. So a huge world to explore and one that, we think, everywhere you go there’s real beautiful things to explore and see.”

This is all making me want a cafe au lait and a holiday, to be honest.

Clutch isn’t the only racing game announced this evening. We also got a look at Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, which will feature over 150 cars to drive around, in very hotwheels-inspired maps.
