My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way hasn’t played Baldur’s Gate 3 yet, but he still made some time during a concert to discuss it with fans

As we await news on Baldur’s Gate 4 (if it does happen), Baldur’s Gate 3 remains a top tier RPG people seemingly can’t get enough of. My Chemical Romance singer and songwriter Gerard Way – who’s also a comic book writer – hasn’t gotten to Larian’s latest yet, though.

Why is this relevant? Well, because Way is a self-professed Dungeons & Dragons fan and someone who’s engaged with RPG games over time – remember when he did a song for Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children? Of course, hardcore MCR fans would want to ask him about the biggest D&D video game of all time, and TikTok user Katana Luciana (hat tip to IGN) did that during a recent live show.

A banner directed at Way was asking if he’d played Baldur’s Gate 3, and it wasn’t long before the band noticed. “No, I only played Baldur’s Gate 1… Not that I probably wouldn’t have liked 2 or 3. I did play the Icewind Dale expansion, but I just ran out of time, y’know,” Way answered to the crowd.

It’s not surprising to hear Way hasn’t found the time to jump into an RPG as big and dense as BG3, but the shoutout to BG1 and Icewind Dale alone was surely appreciated by fans. He also seemed genuinely interested in the (brief) exchange despite the time constraints of a break in a live show, asking the loud crowd if Larian’s threequel was good before making a final comment: “I would assume so. The first one was a lot of fun. You know, it was the closest thing at the time to playing D&D.”

Who knows, maybe Way will return to Baldur’s Gate at some point, and when he does, there might be a sequel TV series to watch too. At least, it’s likely that it will come out before a fourth entry in the RPG series is ready.
